sit back, relax

Yesterday was one of those days where there were no obligations and no need to do anything; the presents are wrapped, the cards delivered, the food shop done and a smug sense of satisfaction prevails.

Such days call for comfort clothing- an old favourite Primark jumper dress, New Look tights and boots (for when I did venture outside) and the sweetest necklace from Ginger Pickle.

Hard to believe really that it’s now Christmas Eve, we all know it’s coming and yet suddenly it’s here, taking us by surprise again.
How are you spending Christmas? It’s going to be one of firsts for us; the first without my Nan, the first without my Brother home, the first with Mae. We’ll make it nice though and maybe set some new traditions…

Santa’s little helper?

Those of you who have a long break for the holidays, how will you spend it? I’ll be going back to work Thursday and bar New Years Day have no more time off. This suits me this year…maybe in years to come I’ll resent it but for now I’m quite looking forward to the continued festive cheer and banter of the office.

Are you all ready?

Bag of Tricks

Meet my new bag, it is perfect. Sent c/o Brand Village I can fit all my really useful junk in there AND wear it across my body which is kind of vital at the moment whilst I’m needing the crutches outside of the house. All these small things you take for granted; not only was I bored of wearing the same old shoes, I was starting to resent my same old handbag too.

Anyway, yes, I really do love this bag and I’m glad I now know Brand Village exists as they have a massive selection of everything from purses to satchels from bag makes I would otherwise not have heard of.

I wore this with a semi-festive outfit; fair isle reindeer top from New Look last year and my ever present skater skirt, also New Look. On my feet are those Sarenza boots which are now starting to fall apart after weeks and weeks of my awkward side footed walking.

A big thank you from Mum and myself for the Birthday wises. It was the perfect low-key day for her spent with the people she wanted around. Maybe if things had been different there would have been a big bash, but as it stands quiet and relaxed was the way forwards. We put on a pretty awesome tea party complete will jelly and ice-cream, cake, sausages on sticks and party bags…I’m making that a requirement for all birthdays from now on.

How do you celebrate birthdays?

With two days to go, are you Christmas ready?

Fifty and Fabulous!

photo from Laura Ashley blog birthday, I hope they don’t mind me using it!

Just a quick and non-sentimental (for she WILL kill me) post to wish the most amazing woman I know a very Happy 50th Birthday
Mum, I know it’s going to be a strange one this year, but we’ll make it the very best it can be. I love you.

Damn,
if I look half that good at 50 I will be a very happy person!

Party Princess with Miss Selfridge

A week ago or so I was contacted on behalf of Miss Selfridge asking if I’d like to take part in a little competition they were running to celebrate the launch of their get-the-look tutorials. We were given the choice of three looks to attempt and indulging my love of all things sparkly I opted for “Pretty Princess”. A few days after sending off my choice a party ready back was delivered, containing all that was required to become a Party Princess…the rest was down to me.

I’ve never really followed tutorials before so I was dubious about whether I could do it, however I needn’t have been as the videos were short, simple and oh so easy to follow.

Make up came courtesy of Bourjois:
(I am in love with every single product, especially the primer and lipstick!)

Hair styling was c/o label.m with a Toni and Guy tutorial: My waves are delighted with the high quality products I’ve piled on!

The outfit of course came via Miss Selfridge, I chose the stunning Embellished Babydoll Dress and the glitzy collar necklace that you can just about see. Sadly due to the temperamental weather and general lack of lighting and photography skills I haven’t really done things justice, but I hope you get the general idea (the shoes are Dune via Sarenza and we won’t go there on the pain levels involved…the foot saga continues well in to the new year it seems…)

I couldn’t quite get to grips with the hair tutorial, my hair isn’t quite the right length for such statement curls, but makeup wise I was pretty pleased and I can’t wait to wear this outfit for real!

Have you ever followed tutorials before? How do you find them?

How did I do?

NOW it’s starting to feel like Christmas

I was both surprised and delighted when Chiara said they wanted to send me a Christmas present and was loving this red jumper the second it arrived. Despite it’s cropped length it goes with a variety of things, for this outfit I teamed it with my New Look tall skater skirt and most faithful boots but I think it’d look just as good with jeans for day and a high waisted body con skirt for night.

There is something about red and sparkles that make me feel festive, and I think, five days away, I can officially say I am looking forward to it. It was never going to be easy this year, with the loss of my Nan and my Brother not being home but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it and I refuse to have yet another deprived (food wise) Christmas full of misery and sadness inside my head.

Couldn’t resist posing with our little Santa chappy; I have no idea where he came from but I love him!

Are you feeling festive now? If you decide you need a red sparkly jumper in your life then head to Chiara now…big thank you to Santa for delivering!
