Zagg- a guest post by my Dad

Not so long ago I featured a Logitech iPad case that I was kindly sent to review. Shortly after that I was given the generous offer of another case, this time by Zagg and given that my Dad was eyeing up my Logitech wonder I decided to accept and let him review the case and keep it for his iPad.
The model we received was the iPad Profolio+ which boasted backlit keys, full body protection and an ultra thin design. It costs £109.00 in black- other colours may cost more.
Dad’s review (sent from his iPad of course) are below:

For those that want to use their iPad mainly as an E-reader the Zagg Keys Profolio+ is not for them. The rigid case makes it awkward but not impossible to use in portrait. The rest is all good news.

The case is slimline, rigid and protective. The magnetic lock when you close it is secure. Setting up couldn’t be easier. Once you power up and hit the pair button you just go to iPad settings,  enable Bluetooth and it pairs instantly.

The central groove holds the iPad securely whether using it on a hard surface or on your lap. There is a choice of 7 back light colours for the keyboard which are practical and look good as well.

I’m not the fastest typist but I found the keyboard responsive. The movement on the keys give reassurance that you have typed the character you want. I’m not sure how a faster typist would get on with it but it feels like a “normal” keyboard to me.

I found the shortcut keys useful (home, search, onscreen keyboard, volume, fast forward and rewind keys).

All in all I am very happy with this keyboard which enhances the experience of using my iPad.

Cat Eye

Another day, another beauty post. I’m really getting quite in to these lately which is a good thing considering how much makeup I own and how much time I now spend playing with it. I reckon it’s increased self confidence. Despite my head telling me it’d do the opposite, weight gain has actually boosted how I feel about myself and I’ve now gained a stone, with just half a stone to go until my goal. What a Christmas present eh?
Anyway,
Mascara fiend me was recently sent Maybelline Volum’ Express Mascara, Colossal Cat Eyes to try out. I’ve said it time and time again how fussy I am when it comes to mascara so I was a bit apprehensive in trying out yet another one, not sure how it could possibly stand up to what I already use.

(hello crinkly skin!)
This mascara gave a different effect to the one I usually favour. I like my lashes to look thick and full and this mascara didn’t quite do that. I don’t mean it in a negative way though…I quite like the thinner, more flared out look and I can see how, with a dash of liner like the packaging suggests you can get that flicked out “cat eye” look and I will be trying this once I get over my whole glitter eyeliner month thing I’m currently going through.
My eyes are really sensitive to mascara and this one did a great job at not irritating them which wins instant brownie points. It was easy to use even though I’m not normally a fan of fancy shaped brushes (this one boasts a “claw” brush) and it might not have trumped my current mascara as a favourite but it has come a close second and one I’ll use for when I feel like branching out a bit. The mascara is currently on sale for £7.20 on The Salon Look which is a pretty good price for mascara these days, certainly no more expensive than other well known brands. I’m glad I was given the chance to try this as it stops me falling in to a rut.
Which are your favourite mascaras? Not that I ought to add more to my collection- I need to carry on using up what I already own!
Happy Christmas Eve folks!
I’m working till 1pm, staying for a buffet lunch then heading home to relax. I’m loving being back at work although it’s exhausted me a bit but who cares eh?

Blast of Normality

Dress c/o Goddiva
Boots c/o Shoe Zone
Necklace: Spain
More Tartan! In a more subtle form this time thanks to this gorgeous mini dress from Goddiva. I wasn’t too sure about how it’d look when I selected it but I followed my instinct and sized up for a more relaxed fit and it’s now one of my favourite dresses I own. I broke the “rules” a bit by adding black tights and boots but I loved how the all worked together and these trusty boots dress down the dress to reflect my “off duty” style.
With only two days until Christmas I must be the only person in the world excited to be heading in to work this morning, but after 6 weeks off sick and in constant pain I’m delighted to finally be at the point where I am fit to return and get my normal life back. I’m a person who loves to work and have missed my colleagues and patients dreadfully. Not being able to do what I usually do doesn’t sit well with me and ever since I could get out of bed on my own I’ve been itching to get back.
Things are mostly better. My left leg semi functions now and I’m in not as much pain, it’s still slow going though and hopefully seeing a neurosurgeon in the new year will help shed some light on prognosis and if it’s likely to happen again.
Phew, bit of a life ramble there. I’d best finish getting ready. My fob watch is being replaced by a festive brooch today and I’m tempted to initiate carol singing in the waiting room.
Bring it on!
What are you most excited about this week?

P.S. blogging will be slower this week with all the festive happenings and getting used to being back at work. I’m sure it’s the same for many of you so if this is the last post you read, have a good ‘un!

Sarenza Sunday- Baby it’s Cold Outside

This week has been cold, not as cold as it could be but still cold. My Sarenza attentions have turned to the more practical yet stylish look- These Mellow Yellow Kafka wedge ankle boots will look great with jeans and dresses (with thick ribbed tights mind) but still keep your feet toasty warm. They cost £142 which is a bit out of my usual price range but I’ll be stalking the Sarenza sale for these next year.

I know my Mum will be all over these and that’s part of the reason I selected them,
you see a Special Someone has a Special Day today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!
I LOVE YOU
thank you for everything you do.
