a question of sport

Vest and Trackpants: c/o Pineapple
Shoes: Converse
Exercise and I have always had a rocky relationship, swinging from one extreme to the other. At the moment it has been a long time since I did any form of any exercise bar every day walking and I’ve been thinking for some time that things need to change. When Pineapple kindly offered me an outfit for review purposes it seemed the perfect chance to get myself moving and after care consultation with a physio or two a plan was hatched.
Gone are the days where I can simply pop out for a jog, I have something called osteopenia, the precursor to osteoperosis and a long term legacy of my fight with anorexia. This means my bones aren’t as strong as they should be and high impact exercise is a no-go. This was gutting as it means a lot of my old favourite ways of keeping fit have been ruled out but that’s no excuse. I have a bike. I have an air walker installed in the garage, there’s yoga and pilates and a whole host of other ways to get moving that just mean thinking outside the box. I also have to be careful because of my foot, pace myself and not do too much at once, but I’m up for a challenge.
This year is to be about building physical strength as well as body confidence and I’m really excited to get going again. This outfit from Pineapple is perfect. I’m fussy about sportswear, it has to feel “right” and this does. The trousers especially are perfect, the length is just right and the material is comfortable and fitted without being skin tight. Size wise I went for a medium which is a UK 10/12 and this seems perfect, if anything a little on the small side so bear that in mind if making a purchase. The top doesn’t feel constrictingly clingy but has support in the right places and doesn’t ride up when I move. I think I’ve found my perfect work out brand and I’ll be sticking with it.
Are you a fan of exercise? What low impact activities would you suggest? What sportswear brand do you favour?

  1. those trousers really suit you, I just walk and cycle but more in the summer haha i tried jogging once and was in so much pain i never did it again, and i could harldy jog 10 paces without feeling like i needed an inhaler!

  2. I haven’t been able to do high impact exercise or run or play contact sports for about 13 years – it sucks! But exercise bikes, cross trainers, pilates and some aerobics are fine 🙂 I’m hoping to get physically strong this year too Laura, good luck!

  3. Good luck with your goals lovely 🙂 I used to dance so Pineapple is a brand I’m familiar with as everyone when I was younger was sporting it haha. Those trousers do look so comfortable – I love a comfortable pair of track pants. I’m currently lusting after a pair from Oysho which are the most sugary pink colour. It’s not the usual me at all, but I tell my boyfriend that if I get them I will definitely accompany him on power walks (haha what a feeble attempt at convincing myself to exercise, I just want the pretty trousers!). I have never been good at exercise, since high school where everything goes wrong for girls with P.E.!! xxx

  4. I like Pineapple – I have pretty much 2 left feet but love crappy street dance films and wearing the right clothes helps me fuel my fantasy life 😉

I’ve just got back to the gym after half term off and am knackered! I do lots on the exercise bike, and I tend to walk on the treadmill rather than run – but quickly, and up a steep incline. I don’t know if that would be too high impact?

I actually bought some good gym t-shirts from Primark in January, they had loads in to catch the new years resolution crowd!

  5. you look awesome in this sporty outfit Laura! I always look flipping awful and I don’t know why. Sports trews seem to add two stone to my middle and legs, plus I look dumpier because I’m not wearing heels. I’ve given up trying to look ‘hot’ and just get down to a workout instead.
It sounds like there are some great exercise options left out there for you, hope you find one you enjoy x

  6. Great review =) I am a big fan of pilates but I need to join my class again. Too lazy! xx

  7. I LOVE the pink colour of the waistband Pineapple Trackpants and of your Pineapple tank/vest. I’m so sorry that your E.D. caused your bones to wind up in such a fragile state and have to admire your efforts. I’m not good at exercise advice, so you should probably get a knowledgeable opinion on any suggestions I make. I think swimming can be low impact, and perhaps crunches on the bed? Possibly some gradual dynamic tension if you can do safe stretching afterwards. I’m not sure.
Anyway, I love the look of your outfit from Pineapple!

  8. Good luck I’m sure you’ll achieve everything that you want to! I’m exercising more now too, this looks like the perfect workout outfit xxx

  9. You look fab. I love Pineapple x

  10. You rock the sporty chick look; thing with exercise is if there is a will there is a way; my rule of thumb is make sure you enjoy what you choose to do – no good making it hell for yourself.
Personally I have a love-hate relationship with exercise, in particular with running at the moment.
