Ahoy!

Stripes, there is something about stripes that instantly conjours up images of sailors at sea in my mind. I’m a lover of all things nautical and always have been. It’s a classic that never dies, always on trend and always chic.
Skirt & Jumper: c/o ASOS | Boots: New Look (old)
The skirt and jumper are the two other pieces I was sent from the ASOS tall collection (which I believe will be up this week). The jumper is just wonderful. The perfect length for wearing with skirts without sleeves that only reach half way down your arms. I’m smitten with the heart elbow patch details and I will be wearing this to death during the spring.
Red isn’t a colour you’ll ususally see me in, I’ve forever been convinced that it doesn’t suit me. A skirt however is a bit easier to pull off and I’m head over heels for this beauty. One glance in to my wardrobe will tell you this is my favourite cut and length this season and the fit of this is beautiful, sitting exactly where it should on the waist and hitting just the right midi point on the leg. I teamed the whole outfit with these super old boots from New Look which don’t really go, but I’m lacking in neutral coloured Spring footwear (would you believe?) so they had to do.
I felt really good in this outfit, which is a rarity these days. There was something about it that made me feel elegant and quite well put together and I got several compliments from people I saw over the course of the day. Once again, ASOS have majorly impressed me with their tall range and I’ll be shopping here from now on for the perfectly cut wardrobe basics.
How would you have styled these pieces? I want more ideas!

  1. I love that dress you got from Asos. The colour is beautiful and I love the drape too. It looks very swingy.

  2. This is a gorgeous outfit! I love that skirt and top and you know I love the sailor vibe.
    Very impressed x

  3. I love the colour of the skirt. It would look lovely with a cream top. As for your stripy top, casual with a pair of turned up jeans would be my choice.

  4. Such a cute look, I love the length of that skirt! I think the tall collection is awesome, I’m not tall but I do have longer legs than I should have and struggle to find dresses/skirts which aren’t too short!

  5. Ooh, I love those cute elbow patches! I’ve nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger award which you can check out here! xxx

  6. I’ve seen your instagram pics of this skirt, and I’m SO envious of how good it looks on a taller frame- their just isn’t enough space between my boobs and my waist for this kind of style to look good on me.

For high summer, I think this would look beautiful with a loose fit silk or similar camisole tucked into it.
