Dress of the month with boohoo

I’m always up for a challenge so when one of my favourite online brands boohoo got in touch asking if I would like to take part in their “Dress of the Month” campaign I didn’t waste much time in saying yes! The idea is quite simple, boohoo send out one of their dresses to a few selection bloggers with the idea that we all style it in our own way. All I knew before the dress arrived was that it was going to be grey- the rest was a complete surprise and one I eagerly anticipated.

With this kind of challenge it generally has one of two outcomes- you either love the product you’re sent to style and it becomes one of your staples OR you wear it for the blog post then it never sees the light of day again. Thankfully this dress falls in to the first category and I’ve been getting a lot of wear from this since it arrived. The dress itself is an absolute bargain at £12 and also comes in blush and black. I did opt for a size up from my usual and I am glad I did as it’s a little tight across the shoulders so if you do decide to purchase perhaps bear that in mind!

I had several ideas on how to style the dress- a sports luxe vibe with trainers and a bomber jacket, something girly with pastels galore or a toughened up look with killer boots and a statement bag. In the end the toughened up look won, I’ve been favouring that style a lot lately and really I just wanted an excuse to get this kick-ass Miista boots out in to the light of day again as I love them so much and they don’t get nearly enough wear (and yes, they still remain one of my best ever bargains at £6.50!).

So there we have it. My take on boohoo’s dress of the month. How would you have styled it?

First date fashion with Boohoo

Ages ago I was contacted by Boohoo to contribute to an infographic about first date fashion. I was given the subject of “Active Date” to cover which was a bit of a challenge as I’m not so much an Active Date kind of girl, but with sports luxe in mind the final result wasn’t too bad! Check out my tips, along with the other gorgeous girls’ below.

What’s Your #partypose?

I can’t resist a challenge so when boohoo.com got in touch announcing their #partypose competition I thought I’d give it a go.

The mission was to create a party outfit for under £100, which with boohoo’s fab prices wasn’t that difficult to be honest; the real challenge is competing against other, more stylish bloggers! I never like to spend a lot on outfits I’m only going to wear once or twice so any party shopping trip tends to have a strict (and often lower than £100) budget.

My outfit came in at a total of £85. I chose this sequin dress from boohoo’s new boutique range purely because I can’t resist a good sequin frock. At £35 this was on the higher end of the price scale for boohoo’s dresses but I love it and consider it to be a bargain as it has potential to be styled in several ways so cost per wear is low.

With such a statement dress I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit fun but fairly simple. The high neckline meant I didn’t want to add a necklace in so I went for this bargain cuff bracelet at a mere £5, again seeing it as something that can be worn in several different ways.
Shoe wise, I always think you can’t go wrong with a wedge for a party, you get the striking added height but also the comfort and support that a wedge brings. Going for plain black means they can’t clash with the dress and can be worn again and again for day and night. I thought such a bold dress needed a strong shoe to carry it whether you opted for bare legs or tights (I’m always one for tights at a party, nothing attractive about frost bite!)
I was a bit clueless when it came to a bag, I’m hopeless at travelling light and usually take a large bag with me, or go to the other extreme and just not bother. I did think this sparkly clutch was pretty though and at £15 you can’t really knock it!

What do you think of my party look? Take a look at boohoo.com to get your own party inspiration and if you want to enter the competition yourself may I please direct you here.

Let me know if you enter, I love having a nosy at what other people come up with!

An outfit for £50? It can be done!

Over the weekend I recieved an e-mail from fashionvouchers.com challenging bloggers to create an outfit for £50 or less from boohoo.com
Now BooHoo isn’t exactly expensive, but it did take a bit of doing to meet the £50 budget!

A bit of browsing later and I came up with a simple and chic outfit that is made even more bargainous as each piece is versatile enough to go with other wardrobe basics; sometimes the trouble with a cheap outfit is that it really is a wear once kind of thing.

1. Orla Button detail shift, £8

2. Cheska black patent Chelsea Boots, £20

3. Coco patent structured top handle shopper, £20

Thank heavens for clearance sections, the first place I check in any shop both in the real world and online!

What do you think of this outfit? Can you come up with better in the budget?
