Summer Spectacle with TOMS

I appear to have developed a bit of an obsession with sunglasses this summer, so when I was sent over this press release from TOMS I just knew I had to share.

TOMS have collaborated with the amazing interiors designer Jonathan Adler and have created the below amazing Unisex eyewear – with hand embroided cases.
The three styles have had an all-American make over and are available to buy this week on the TOMS website.
They range from £105- £130 and as with all of the TOMS product this range also supports the One-for- One message, that for every pair of glasses bought, TOMS provides life changing eye surgery, prescription glasses or medical treatment for someone in need in over 50 countries.  
I love the work that TOMS do to help those in need. I never hesitate about making a purchase from this brand- my footwear collection will attest to that. Sadly my budget doesn’t currently stretch to a pair of these, but I have been lucky enough to own a pair of TOMS sunglasses from when they first launched and I can hand on heart say they are worth every penny.
The real selling point of this collaboration is those stunning needlepoint cases. Oh how I wish I could sew!

with the sun in your eyes

Going on holiday to somewhere like Spain in August of course means sunglasses are a prominent feature. I myself took away three pairs (and bought another there) although I admit by the end of the two weeks I did stop wearing them as I was developing white rings around my eyes!
There were a few trends I noticed whilst out there. 
Aviators were the most worn style by both men and women. You couldn’t move for street hawkers selling knock-offs and for those with the real deal the brand of the year was most certainly Ray Ban. I’m not adverse to a pair of aviators and found myself envying males and females alike for their ability to pull them off. Something I have never managed.

Big, stand-out sunnies were mostly favoured by Spanish ladies over a certain age and were often combined with back-combed hair, bright lipstick and tight white trousers paired with a t-shirt with blatant designer logo. Last year every young girl we passed had this type of shade but it seems to have fallen out of favour and passed down to mother’s and grandmother’s. I’m a fan though, but once again they drown my face!

It may make me a cliche but I’m still partial to my wayfarer style sunnies. I have a few pairs in a range of colours and find them bold without being too standout. These were still popular, especially with the young ‘uns (which I no longer count myself as) in bright colours. I stuck to purple. Or grey with a print because I’m fairly boring these days. I think, having discovered this style they will always be the one for me!

Sunglasses Shop Wishlist (not giving up on Summer!)

Last week I teamed up with Sunglasses Shop for a review and giveaway and this week I’m bringing you a wishlist; unseasonal or not they have such a wide range of designer sunglasses that I really couldn’t help myself! With ranges including Guess, Miu Miu, D&G and a whole host of other fabulous brands for men and women it’s hard not to lust!

1. How amazing are these Miu Miu sunglasses? Totally OTT with their red glitter frame and irregular shape I have a heck of a lot of love for these! (£241)

2. A classic by Ray-Ban Sunglasses , I will forever covet a pair of the iconic wayfarer and classic tortoiseshell seems the way to go. (£102)

3. More glitter! This time a more subtle affair from Marc by Marc Jacobs, these could almost pass as an every day essential. (£94)

4. Last but not least, something colourful from Oakley Sunglasses What do you think of my choices? Do you think sunglasses are a Summer only thing or a year round must-have?

Sunglasses; my top picks AND £100 giveaway!

Sunglasses; I’m always torn when it comes to them; part of me wants to buy loads of cheap pairs from Primark that each last about a week and the other part of me wants to save that money and invest in a decent pair. As I’ve got older, and so say more responsible I’ve started to lean toward the latter option and lately I’ve been looking more closely at designers, especially Ray Bans (such a cliche, I know!)
