Have an Appy Valentines Day

For those who choose to celebrate Valentines Day there is no denying that it can get expensive. Thankfully with the aid of our trust smartphones and the wide variety of apps available there are some easy ways to cut down on the costs- be it bagging a discount on a fancy meal or saving on the taxi home, it all adds up. Together with Vodafone I’m bringing you some of the best money saving apps on the market meaning that you can enjoy a date night without breaking the bank.

You may also remember that a while back I tested out the Vodafone brand Smart First 7 which can also save you a pretty penny. The Vodafone Smart prime 7 is a stylish, super-slim and easy-to-use smartphone that’s full of top-notch features for a ground-breaking price of just £16 per month or £70 Pay as you go.

On the apps and the first one is Vouchercloud (free on Android and iOS). This is an app I use regularly and you can get the best savings and offers available at your favourite restaurants straight to your phone. Simply search for the best savings available on Valentine’s Day in your area and you’ll be sent a discount voucher you can use at a number of nearby restaurants.

There’s also a huge range of online shopping vouchers and codes so you can impress your date with a gift too!

Next up we have TablePouncer (free on Android and iOS) which is perfect for those of you who are last minute with your plans. TablePouncer lets you book last-minute tables at top local restaurants – with savings of up to 65%. You can instantly book a table in just a few easy steps- simply search for restaurants offering deals in the area.

All the deals featured on the app are exclusive to TablePouncer so you won’t find them anywhere else.

Hotel Tonight (free on Android and iOS) is perfect if you’re whisking your date away this Valentines Day as with Hotel Tonight you can book last-minute hotel rooms in just 10 seconds – with 3 taps and a swipe the room is yours – perfect if you’re feeling spontaneous.

With Hotel Tonight you can make mid-week bookings and book longer staycations in locations all over the country – and every hotel is screened by the Hotel Tonight team beforehand to make sure you get the very best for your money.

Music lovers can use Dice (free on Android and iOS) to book tickets to the best gigs and theatre shows in town. Find tickets for performances from world famous artists such as Adele, Taylor Swift and Disclosure as well as up and coming artists such as Skott, The Amazons and Rex Orange County.

Dice only lists the very best in live music and theatre performances – all are handpicked by a research team with too many late nights on their CVs!

Last but not least we have Minicabit (free on Android and iOS). This app will get you the best taxi fares anywhere in the UK. It’s simple and afforable so you can ditch the tube, train or bus.

With Minicabit you can book anything from an airport transfer – if you’re off on a mini break – to a lift home in more than 40 cities across the UK. You’ll also find the best local mini-cabbies around so you can enjoy the benefits of their local knowledge – from short cuts to the congested areas to avoid.

Let me know if you end up using any of these apps and what you thought of them. Also if you have any money saving favourites that I’ve missed in this post then feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored or paid for post. I just thought with Valentines Day looming that I’d share some of my favourite ways to save a few pennies in collaboration with Vodafone.

Valentines Treats and Giveaway with Holly’s Lollies

Ah, Valentines day…I’m not a huge believer in having a specific date for showing someone that you love them but I’ll admit there is something a little bit magical about it whether you’re in a relationship or just want an excuse to round up your best girlfriends and have some fun.

This year will be my first Valentines day spent single in a while and whilst I once assumed I’d be bothered, I’m really not. I actually have some really fun plans for the week with some of my favourite people and I’m more excited about that than I am worried about moping around on the 14th Feb.

If you’re looking for a gift idea for your loved one then may I point you in the direction of Holly’s Lollies (read this post to find out more about Holly and her magical creations). Holly has come out with the most beautiful selection of boozy love themed treats that are perfect for showing your partner, or your best friends just how much you love them.

Heart Shaped Lollipop duo* | Trio of Boozy Lollipops* | Prosecco and Elderflower Rock Sweet Jar*

Holly very kindly sent me a selection of the Valentines Range to try out- so far I’ve only tried the prosecco and elderflower rock sweets (which might just be my new favourite sweet, ever) as I want to share the lollipop love with my friends and family but from previous experience I can assure you that anything you buy from Holly’s magic kitchen is going to be an absolute winner.

Speaking of winners…Holly has also offered up a trio of boozy lollipops (worth £11) for one of my readers/followers to win- with delivery in time for Valentines Day too! If you fancy your chances then just follow the simple steps below.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

UK only, giveaway runs from 2-2-17 until 9-2-17 and winner will be picked and contacted by the end of that day. If no response within 24 hours a new winner will be selected and contacted.

Good Luck!

Preparing for Valentines Day with Rakuten

Neither Ben or I are massive Valentines Day fanatics but at the same time we do like to mark the day with a card and token gift as well as some time spent with each other. As this is our first year in our own home and the 14th happens to fall on a Sunday we’re planning a very quiet and cosy day enjoying our flat.

Rakuten kindly got in touch asking if they could lend a hand by sending out a box full of treats to help make the day extra special as well as giving us some credit to spend on the site (which obviously went on homeware, but more on that in a later post!). Today’s post touches on the contents of the box and some ideas for a cosy day in.

It was lovely to receive a selection of beauty products in the box for a spot of pre-Valentines pampering (I seem to have become quite the pampering fan of late!).
When it actually rolls around to February 14th I shall be going OTT (for me) and stringing up the foil hearts, scattering the love hearts tea lights and chocolate hearts on our coffee table and preparing myself for an easy day of cosy indulgence.

We’ll be doing things on a budget this year and to be honest I can’t bring myself to pay £30 per person on a themed meal out when we can cook for ourselves at home. I don’t profess to be the worlds greatest cook but I can whip up a mean pasta bake that we both really enjoy and from the comfort of our living/dining room we can pop on a soundtrack of our choosing, open a bottle of wine and sit back and relax our way- no cheesy love songs and satin roses on the table here!

When it comes to gifts we quite often go down the homemade route and this year will be no exception. Last year I whipped up a batch of coconut ice in heart shapes for Ben and this year I’m considering something like these biscuits along with a home made card and the promise of breakfast in bed (I happen to excel at scrambled eggs on toast!).

What are your plans for Valentines Day this year? Do you prefer a quiet night in or a posh night out?

Guess my Valentine

It’s been a little while since Guess Jewellery last made an appearance on the blog, things got all kinds of crazy with Christmas content but now that’s done and dusted I can focus on shiny, pretty things for the year ahead, kicking off with their Valentine’s collection called “Crystals of Love”.

Ring / Necklace / Earrings / Bracelet / Skirt

I think this is one of the prettiest, most delicate Guess Jewellery collections yet, with each piece perfect for every day wearing. I’ll be dropping some serious hints as February 14th nears- I think I want everything in the collection and all in the super pretty Rose Gold colour (also available in Gold and Rhodium). Prices range from £35.00-£40.00 so it’s not a massive spend…perfectly priced for treating yourself I’d say!
Also on my radar right now is the gorgeous pink textured skirt from the Marks and Spencer Limited Collection. Perfect for a romantic date and for pairing with delicate jewellery this is just one of many amazing new pieces just arrived at M&S.
Be mine, Valentine?
