Pouncing Kitty

If winning a giveaway with Stylistpick wasn’t enough, finding something cat related to purchase with my voucher was the icing on the cake. I know, how many feline themed items of clothing can one girl own? Crazy cat lady and proud!

I almost didn’t post these photos, there is something about them that I’m just not happy with. Perhaps it was the bad body image day I was having at the time, or perhaps it was more to do with the standard of my photos & location compared to every other blogger out there, but yeah…I’m just not that cool with them.

Comparison to others has been a real enemy of mine lately, especially when it comes to blogging. Whilst others seem to have developed and flourished as a blogger I barely see any change in mine from when I started six years ago. It’s lack of time mostly, working two jobs as well as running this site I find it hard to grab even an afternoon to go somewhere nice and shoot a few outfits. I also seem to lack the creative brain that others have, when it comes to posing and setting up a photo I just fall short…

But enough, enough of that because at the root of it all I’m happy with what I do and with my blog. It’s not my full time job, or even a job at all and I get some amazing benefits from it. Perhaps as the weather improves I will get out there and work on my outfit photos and branch out a bit more, but then again, maybe I won’t. The same goes for the other content I put up. I only post about what I want to post about and I don’t have hours to spare putting together the perfect set up that isn’t a reflection of who I am as a person.

I’ve had a bad day or six lately and that has impacted on how I view anything that I put together but I won’t let it stop me. I’m not going to make promises I can’t keep, but hopefully feeling like this will spur me on in to making the most of days where I do have more time to do something a little bit creative. And if it doesn’t? I won’t stop blogging, not whilst I still enjoy it and have loyal readers who return to read post after post. Thank you to everyone who does take the time to read, comment on and follow my blog- it’s appreciated more than you know. If you do happen to have any suggestions for jazzing things up then leave them below…

If you don’t, then just bask in the glory of this amazing jumper and ignore all the drivel I’ve written above.

  1. Hey Laura, we all have times we feel like things aren’t how we planned. Comparison is the thief of joy.
I love your blog, it’s one of the first I started following and your beautiful smile, radiance and personality never fails to shine through. I read all the time xx

  2. I love the jumper and the pink converse! The photos are great. 🙂 xxx

  3. I hope you realise how much I love your blog. After my own e-mail in the morning and my blog url, yours is the first I type into my phone- well, all I have to type is http://www.a and it comes up!
I understand the comparison thing- I sometimes look at my blog and think how grainy and crappy it looks compared to everyone else’s, how any outfit I put together looks like a small kid dressing up and doing it badly, how crafty things I make are pretty awful and how despite the fact I have been blogging almost 10 years (anniversary coming up), I have a mere 145 GFC followers and only 79 Bloglovin, when people who have been only blogging a year or so have thousands and there are bloggers whose blogs I tirelessly comment on day after day after week after week and never even get a Hi back which reflects how awful they must think my blog is when I see them comment on other people’s all the time!
But even though those thoughts pass through my head occasonally, I banish them because I love what I do, I love typing, thinking of things to write about, looking for things to photograph, appraising my wardrobe in different ways, indulging in nostalgia and I am grateful that it, though it may be titchy and rubbish, is there for me to do all that. And I adore the wonderful people who are kind enough to say hi and those wonderful people who tirelessly support what I do- it makes it all worth it,seeing a stream of excitable and enthusiastic comments!
Your blog has been my inspiration since 2009 and I am so grateful to know you and to read your blog. And you know, you are hugely successful, so believe in yourself!!!

And if I think of any ideas for blogging, I will share them!

For what it’s worth I like your background, the garden looks nice :). I understand the comparison thing though, it’s hard not to compare yourself to others sometimes. I love your blog though and I’m glad you aren’t going to let this get the best of you.

Oh and I love that jumper!

I think it’s a good thing to stick with the format that people know and love… If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! So many blogs have become carbon copies, which I really don’t think is a good thing. Xx
