Shoes for the not so Dainty

When I was younger buying shoes was an absolute nightmare; I envied all my classmates who had pretty school shoes, whereas I was stuck with clompy (and often boy’s), ugly ones. The problem was I have really wide feet and back in the day, pretty wide fit shoes just didn’t exist.

To some extent this is still true. Sometimes I have to go an entire size up in a shoe I reallly want because otherwise they would be too narrow (length wise I’m a six, width wise a seven) and wide fit ranges are still somewhat limited in most places. Fortunatley places like Viva La Diva exist, with an entire range of wide fit shoes (up to an EEE fit with a handy guide to getting the perfect fit)…check out these beauties!

The first and last pair are my favourites…finally my flipper feet can be pretty in pink! Any other wide foot girls out there? Do you feel my pain….and where do you shop?

  1. I have long, thin flippers! I can’t downsize or else my toes will get squashed – I’m a size 6 length, size 4/5 breadth, gahh! I feel the opposite of your pain 😛 x

  2. Aagh I love the first ones! I’m the opposite, I have v narrow feet, when I was a kid I couldn’t wear loafers or pretty ballet shoes cause I just walked out of them, it killed me! Even now I have to buy them slightly tight so they stay on! 🙂

  3. I have issues with narrow calves, it makes all boots look like wellies. Viva La Diva came to my rescue then.

  4. The first pair of shoes are VERY pretty.

  5. I have a ridiculously long second toe – it is so long, so I can never wear pretty peep-toe shoes as the toe of doom just hangs over the end – its almost obscene I tell you!

  6. The first pair are just amazing! x

  7. Those first shoes are absolutely perfect.x

  8. Feeling the pain (of buying shoes to fit my length and squeeeeezing those chubby tootsies of mine in)!!!

I am in love with the pink pair – cerise makes my heart glow!

    Great post

  9. I have triple problems. Wide feet, flat feet (almost everything is uncomfortable) and large feet, a size 9! It means that usually I have to stick with unisex styles like Vans or Converse. Thanks for the Viva La Diva link, not heard of them before, am checking them out 🙂

  10. i love the last ones! xx

  11. Love the colour combinations here. I find New Look’s wide fit range really good.

  12. Not wide feet but BIG feet! Size 8 and sometimes 9, one is slightly bigger than the other! I’m afraid, I just try different shoes and hope for the best!

  13. The first pair are so adorable – love the colours. I have long (size 7) thin feet, so I still find it difficult with some shoes, especially heels! xo

  14. Im really into sandals & boots simultaneously right now which is odd. the last pair are cute

  15. I LOVE the first pair the most. Also I absolutely adore your shoes in your previous post.

  16. J’aime particulièrement les chaussures de la deuxième photo.
    Gros bisous

  17. I love the second pair, they look delicate but also comfy, something I always need wit shoes.

  18. My feet are wide at the front, with thick/tall big toes (nice!) but then narrow round the heels, so if I size to fit the front my heels always slip about and get blistered and if shoes fit at the back my toes get squashed!

I have found New Look wide fit size 5 very helpful (I’m a size 6 everywhere else) and Office size 6 boots and lace ups are also good. I had to buy size 7 in flat lace ups in Topshop recently! It is very rare for me to find sandals, court or backless shoes that are comfortable. I live in boots and lace ups!

  19. wide feet are my doom. Also, whenever I see shoes I love in New Look or similar, they never seem to have those in the wide fit also, it’s usually the ones i’m not keen on (*tiny violin*). I need to check out Viva La Diva definitley, especially now I need smart interview shoes

Wow, those look so cute! I am lucky to have very average feet, but I still find shopping for shoes a challenge, so I can’t imagine what it must be like if you have an usual size as well.
