Fashionably Fit

I’m writing this post whilst being inwardly excited that I’m able to do so. You see, I used to love running a few years ago but had to give it up for a while to let my body and mind get healthy enough to expend that kind of energy again.
The time has now come where I am so nearly at that point and I can be writing a post like this on my blog.

Shoes c/o Sportshoes
Meet my new running shoes…jazzy aren’t they? I couldn’t help but want them the second I started browsing the website,
do I really need bright purple and coral shoes to pound the pavements? Probably not, but fashion and fitness do sort of go hand in hand. Look good, feel good and all that.
Maybe you won’t agree with me, and I’m not talking a full face of make up and the latest designer labels just to go for a jog around the park but I do think it’s worth making some effort. For me personally if I stuck on some ratty old leggings and the biggest tee I could find then I wouldn’t feel as confident or as comfortable during exercise and would a) not want to go and b) not do so well if I did attempt it.
A well fitting pair of jogging bottoms or some jazzy leggings with a flattering vest or long line tee, combined with some fun (and comfortable) trainers and I’m more likely to feel cheerful and like I’m in the spirit of the activity. These shoes also happen to be incredibly light and cushioned which will make a pleasing change from my last pair of running shoes and be better for me feet, too.
Does this make me a bit vain? Maybe it does. I don’t care though. It’s about what is doing what’s right as an individual and my journey will progress better by paying a bit more attention to what I’m wearing whilst I rebuild my strength and stamina.
What are your thoughts? What kind of things do you wear for exercise?

  1. They’re a really cool colour, what style are they? I don’t think I’ve seen those before. I wear Nike Free Run, which are super comfy. I hope these are, they look like they come up a bit high so be careful I guess, just in case you get out there and they rub you a bit.

  2. Oh, I love these – my Asics GT200s are also incredibly vibrant and bright pink. To keep things looking chic (or at least, an attempt to) I wear only black clothing with them – Nike is my go-to brand for sports clothing, and I love their miler t-shirts and long sleeved shirts, capri pants and running tights. You can’t go wrong with them! X

  3. I completely agree about feeling good in what you wear when you go out running – it makes you feel a bit more of a pro too! Hannah x

  4. Love the colours of those shoes! I like to have cute work out stuff – it motivates me to get out there and get running! Vanity schmanity, if you feel good go for it!

  5. It’s totally not vain to wear cute clothes to workout as long as it makes you feel good and keeps you motivated, I need to get me a pair of these soon so I can start jogging again to xoxo

  6. I love these i use Nike Free’s they are so so comfy!

  7. Wear what ever you want! The only rule to running is to have good trainers and a good sports bra, barring that – anything goes.
Love the colour of these – I’m hoping for some funky running shoes for Christmas… I feel a wishlist post coming on

  8. I always used to pick my footwear for badminton based on the flexibility of the sole and how pretty they were. I wasnt being vain just wanted something pretty to put on my feet so I could get excited pre match! I imagine its the same with running you can get a bit more energised with some funky shoes!

  9. I only exercise at home so I don’t exactly look stylish! These are very jazzy shoes indeed

  10. Oh.My.Word ….. LOVE the trainers, I’m drooling. Oh and you can never have enough cute gym clothes … actually I’m pretty sure this is an actual fact, a rule somewhere … I’m sure 🙂

  11. Must. Find. Motivation. To. Jog…………………

So unhappy at the minute, but no time to exercise, perhaps some lovely snazzy new shoes may motivate me 😉

  13. It’s fantastic you’ve made such progress and are able to write this post. I love those shoes, they are the perfect colours. I definitely think that what you wear is so important and makes all the difference to exercise.

  14. These are awesome! I wear my workout leggings and brightly coloured tops to feel a bit less self conscious when I am exercising, much more fun that way!

  16. I like to feel good when I exercise which doesn’t necessarily mean a full face of make up but it does mean fun, colourful clothes 🙂

  17. I do agree- I’m so lazy when it comes to dressing for exercising which means I usually feel rubbish and vow to make more of an effort the next time (one day in the near future, ahem) xx

  18. For me, it’s all about what’s comfortable and on a personal level, all about thermoregulation since it’s now what you might call chilly cycling in in the mornings. Love these super bright trainers- I love my Frees for cycling since they have some serious bend in them.

  19. Love these! I wear really boring Asics for running and the gym. May need to get these though!!

  20. I love nike frees – I got my first pair in New York. I like how colourful and lightweight they are, but I have a few more supportive pairs for longer distances. Nice running clothes always motivates me!

  21. I absolutely love these, they’re so fun! I think you’re right – it’s good to go out feeling confident and strong, not worrying about how scruffy you look.

  22. Christmas shopping is always hard for me! 🙂 But I came across these “12 Christmas tips from Zopatioss” that I really liked:
