A Make Up Post

I am by no means a beauty blogger, I’ll make that clear from the start! I love makeup, but over the last couple of years have spent less and less time trying new products and generally making much of an effort. Recently I’ve found myself getting sucked back in to it, and with all the buzz around a few new products, I found myself making a few lunchtime purchases.

Boots 17 Range is a brand I’ve grown up with, and I hate to admit, become rather snobbish about over the years. Recently they’ve hopped back on my radar with the release of the magnetic nail polishes (which I have, but haven’t reviewed) and the latest beauty buzz…BB cream. I was actually quite surprised to see my tiny, local Boots stock the BB cream; they so rarely get the new items in. They also had the new metallic eyeshadows, and with the lot being on 3 for 2 I grabbed the BB cream and two eyeshadows; the bronze and the silver.
I don’t know what I expected from the BB cream, especially compared to my usual foundation, but I do really like how it makes my skin look; smooth and clear. I picked up the light shade and due to my extreme pale-ness I half anticipated turning orange, but this wasn’t the case and I will be purchasing this again.
The metallic eyeshadows are lovely. Unlike so many cream eyeshadows they don’t crease or slide off during the day. I’ve been wearing the copper a lot, either on it’s own or as a base for powder eyeshadows. Again, I’d re-purchase and will probably pick up more shades.

A few other products I’ve been loving are L’oreals superliner crystal, which is my dream liquid eyeliner. The crystal effect is subtle; barely metallic and I love it for it’s slightly less harsh look.
Rimmel ScandalEyes has become my new HG mascara, the photos above showing just one coat of it. I’ve already bought a backup.
Blusher wise, I’m loving ELF studio cream blush in flirt. There was much outcry over the price of this, at Β£6.50 it’s one of their more expensive products, but it is hands down the most flattering cream blusher I have ever used!

What products are you loving right now? Which new releases must I try…and which should I ignore?

  1. I have tried the Garnier BB Cream & I was pretty impressed by it. Must try the No 7 one too πŸ™‚ x

  2. Are you one of these lucky folk with super long lashes? Because if that’s just mascara it’s amazing – I thought you were wearing falsies!

  3. The eye shadow does wonders for your eyes; they really pop in the pictures! I love all mid-range (supermarket and drug store)brands. My new conundrum is animal testing with some of these products(but I won’t go on about that). Happy Sunday! xx

  4. So jealous of your eyelashes! Really want to try the cream shadows!

  5. Lovely post – that mascara just looks incredible, thank you for sharing! πŸ˜€

  6. You have lovely long eyelashes xx

  7. Beautiful eyes lady! x

  8. Really tempted to get the BB cream as I’ve got an extra points on 17 voucher knocking about [damn Boots and their marketing], looks like it’s worked really well for you as well πŸ™‚ x

  9. I tried the Garnier BB cream and it made me a bit orange :\ I wouldn’t mind trying the 17 one.
Those metallic eyeshadows look gorgeous too!

  10. I’ll have to try the BB cream as I tried the Garnier one and it left me looking rather orange! x

Wow, that mascara looks good! Loving the look of elf Flirt cream blush. I haven’t ordered from elf in months which is unusual for me! I bought one of the 17 Metallic Eyes shadows and it creased like crazy even with primer, but maybe I need to use it more as a base rather than on its own. I was hugely surprised when my Boots got the 17 BB Cream in too. I swatched the lightest shade but it looked quite orange on my hand so I left it. I’ll have to have another look tomorrow. I tried the Garnier BB cream which I liked coverage wise, but it went a bit orange on me xx

  12. I’ve grown up with 17 too, will sure be looking out for the BB cream now xxx

  13. Your eyelashes are amazing! Your eyes look gorgeous in these photos.

I definitely remember 17 being the first makeup I ever bought, and then very inexpertly applied!

  14. I like BB cream too. I don’t think it is going to change the world but it is a nice alternative to tinted moisturiser. Your eyelashes are amazing btw. x

  15. Woweee, look at those lashes! Gorgeous! πŸ™‚ xx

  16. I’m using that new Rimmel mascara too – really impressed with it!

  17. The mascara is great your lashes look super thick. I think I need to find an alternative to badgal so I might be trying this soon : )

  18. I’m with you on the random 17 snobbery; must be to do with associating it with growing up (I’ve used their nail stuff since I was around 8) I’d recommend trying Max Factor’s new colour elixir lippies, they’re lush πŸ™‚ x

  19. there is a lot of good information here! just found your blog, it’s really great (: + you look awesome!

  22. I’ll be trying the BB cream. I am loving Benefits They’re Real mascara at the moment – it works wonders on my lashes. I’ve also started using Elf’s eye primers – they’re great under eyeshadow but also look really good worn alone.
