Gift Guide/Review: Solid Cologne*

PR sample

I find men so impossible to buy for, so I always tend to seek ideas for them when it comes to browsing and creating gift guides in the hopes of inspiration and to inspire others.
Today’s inspiration comes in the form of this solid cologne from www.solidcologne.co.uk.

Whilst it might not look like much, this little tin packs an almighty punch in the gifting stakes. This is a solid wax-based cologne made with skin friendly ingredients that applies directly on to the skin. It’s designed with travel and busy lifestyles in mind with it’s pocket sized tin and no spill format (and when travel is back on the cards it’s also perfect for taking in your hand luggage).

Bob has been wearing this religiously since it arrived- he’s usually a brand snob when it comes to fragrance, but his other scents haven’t had a look in since this turned up.
This scent, “Alexander”, is one of the brand’s top sellers and we both absolutely love it. It’s rich without being overpowering, with notes of grapefruit, bay leaf and jasmine. It has a woody base of patchouli, oak moss and ambergris, and whilst I have no idea what the latter is, it sure smells good!

This little tin retails for £19.99- now, that may seem pricey but this is going to last forever! A little bit goes a long way, and once applied the scent lasts all day. A great little gift idea for those hard to buy for men, and something we will be making a regular purchase.

Stocking Fillers and Festive Flavour from E-Cigarette Direct*

It’s been a while since I last posted about my vaping journey, in short, I’m still at it 90% of the time. I have lapsed back to cigarettes from time to time, mainly when I have a gin in hand, but it’s not the same any more and I always regret it. See, the thing about vaping that keeps me sticking with it is the huge variety of flavours; that and the ability to tweak nicotine content to my current needs (mostly I’m down to 3mg juices, when I started I was on 12mg!).
My pals at e-cigarette direct recently hooked me up with a delicious festive flavour so I thought what better time to pop up a quick post for anyone who is interested, so, here we go…

Cinnamon Spiced Slice by Ohm Baked c/o e-cigarette direct

I’m all about the sweets and baked goods when it comes to my juices, and I’ve always loved the Ohm Baked brand for their wide range of bakery inspired flavours. Cinnamon Spiced Slice is based on a fresh apple tart, warm from the oven with a generous sprinkle of cinnamon to finish it off.

I love this, it’s warming, it’s nostalgic and it’s definitely festive. The 50ml short-fill bottle costs £13.99 which I think is a bargain considering I was spending almost that on ONE packet of cigarettes and one 50ml bottle lasts me at least three weeks. A must have for any vapers seeking out a festive fix.

WizMix E-liquids c/o e-cigarette direct

If you’re looking for last minute stocking fillers for any vapers you know then I highly recommend WizMix 10ml bottles. It’s a brand I’ve used from the very beginning and have remained loyal to. Each bottle costs £3.99 and they have such a wide choice of flavours. Above are some of my favourites- I highly recommend strawberry jam and vanilla ice-cream if you have a sweet tooth!

There is still time to get your order in time for Christmas, just have it placed by tomorrow for guaranteed delivery.

Fellow vapers let me know what brands and flavours you’re currently loving…I’m always down for discovering and trying new things.

The roses come presented in a beautiful box, which is where they will need to stay for the year, and they come in a choice of over 15 colours.

Molecular Motifs

This necklace pendant is designed after the molecular structure of Nepetalactone which is the active compound found in Catnip. When a cat eats catnip, it acts as a sedative, but when smelled, it mimics feline pheromones and triggers those receptors causing kittens to go crazy! This gift I perfect for all those science-loving cat lovers out there. Wearing this will make them purr!

Christmas at Castle Howard

A couple of weeks ago Bob and I took a trip up North for a week, to spend time with his family and friends and celebrate his 30th birthday. We packed a heck of a lot in to that week away, and one of the highlights was the visit we made to Castle Howard for their “Christmas at Castle Howard” event. The main reason for our visit was to show Bob’s mum some support for her first stint playing piano in the Great Hall, something she’ll be doing on various dates throughout the festive period. Not that she needed us there, she nailed it, and we were blown away by the grandeur of the house and it’s stunning grounds.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘A Christmas Masquerade’ and was created by Charlotte Lloyd Webber and Bretta Gereke. It’s hard to explain how decadent the house looked, so I’ll let the photos do the talking, it was great to learn some of the history of the castle and imagine how incredible their Christmas parties must have been!

If you find yourself near York with a yearning to do something festive then I 100% recommend visiting Castle Howard, the grounds are breathtaking too, and with coffee and good food on offer you can easily spend a whole day there (and of course, the pianist is amazing!)
