Smiley in Sidmouth

So the weekend before the one just gone was my best friend’s birthday weekend. She may as well be part of the family, the way she’s been accepted so it was fitting when she came with my Grandad and I to scatter my Nan’s ashes two years ago and even more fitting when we spent part of her Birthday weekend back down in Sidmouth where we could be close to her.
I grew up on family holidays in Devon and Cornwall and Sidmouth was a place we returned to year on year. It’s a little town in Devon, along the Jurassic coast. We used to rent cottages on a farm and I have so many memories of traipsing around the town centre and playing on the beach with my brother and cousins.
I decided to give my new Smiley cropped tee an airing (part of a collab with New Look, coming soon) for the trip as it reminds me so much of things I wore back in the day. I teamed it with this split front skirt which I got in the ASOS tall section sale and just love. I originally bought it for office wear but I think, with it’s super high split it’s more suited for out of work pursuits. On my feet I wore some new sandals by Latinas c/o Sarenza which are just so comfortable. I’ve found the way forwards with flat shoes is to size up where possible, that gives me the extra width I need to not be in agony!
As you can see, it wasn’t the sunniest of days but it was warm and for the most part it stayed dry. We walked along the pebble beach which holds so many happy memories and ventured through the town centre, popping in to all the little shops along the way. I came back with a few cat themed goodies and Trudi stuck to her tradition and bought back some fudge from the best fudge shop ever– they make the fudge on site and the smell is just AMAZING, seriously amazing…so is their malteasers fudge. Lunch was eaten in a place named Graze who you must check out if you’re in the area. I had the most amazing Devon seafood linguine and Trudi went for ham, egg and bubble & squeak…worth every penny.
We spent the afternoon avoiding walking through a Morris Dancing session on the sea front before heading over to another little town named Budleigh Salterton. It’s the sleepiest place on earth but has the most amazing ice cream shop called The Creamery. With over 30 flavours on offer it’s hard to pick but we were more than happy with our choices of Jaffa Cake for Trudi and Honeycomb for me. After our ice creams and a brief sit on the beach it started to rain and so ended our seaside trip. It was a lovely day though and the perfect chance to wear my Smiley tee which attracted an awful lot of attention from passers by.
We all love to be beside the seaside right? Where’s your favourite place for a beach day out?

Buddleigh Salterton was always one of my favourites, it’s a nice swimming beach. If you go down closer to xmas the Roly’s christmas pudding fudge is delicious

  2. Sidmouthhhhhh! Takes back memories! Oh, and I love your top (and that you are eating an ice-cream!) …..I followed you on that one and have eaten one or two for the last 11 days in ibiza. YAY US!

  3. I went to the beach on Saturday morning for a walk with the bf, his sis and her dog and it was lovely, apart from getting half the beach in my shoes and getting caught by a rouge wave 🙂
    Love the cute tee.

Ah, looks lovely. I grew up by the sea and we used to holiday in Devon or Cornwall every summer, so it’s a part of the country that holds lots of good memories, mostly involving ice cream 🙂

  5. Such a cute outfit! I love the skirt. I don’t think I would have ever thought to pair it with that top but I love it! Serious stroke of genius!
That beach looks stunning and it sounds like you had a good time there too! My favorite beach would have to the Pondalowie surf beach in SA it’s fantastic for surfing or just checking out surfers 😉 haha!

  6. Love the smiley t shirt. I am a big fan of Sidmouth and all of Devon and Cornwall. really glad we live close enough to go there in our campervan in the summer. Looks like you are having a lovely time.

  7. We always use to head to Bridlington or Filey growing up in East Yorkshire. Great for arcades, walking along the prom and some great fish n chips!

  8. That skirt is lovely!! I’ve never been to Sidmouth but it’s one of my grandparents’ favourite holiday destinations, they go stay there every year.
