night and day

Yesterday I intended to wear this sequin pencil skirt from Zara…a hasty purchase after seeing it on one of my favourite bloggers, Jen. It has been hanging in my wardrobe for a couple of months now and I just can’t work it for day like she does,
I guess, given that my day really only consisted of a quick trip to Tesco, that might explain it…but regardless, I soon swapped it for a maxi skirt from New Look vowing that I really will wear the sequins SOON!
Worn with a basic tee from Peacocks.

Half the problem with outfits here is that I live in such a small and close minded town. If I am not careful, I attract toooo much attention to myself and I don’t like that. I’m thinking when this skirt finally makes it’s daytime debut, it should be for a city centre shopping trip.

A few hours at work today and then Christmas has officially begun!
Thank you for all of Mum’s Birthday wishes, she had a lovely day and really appreciates every comment!

How would you wear sequins for day? Am I over-thinking?

  1. Hello Laura!

I think that the sequins are great – especially for day wear around Christmas! The style really suits 🙂

    Take care!

  2. I too have coveting that skirt and you wear it well!

You know me I love sparkles and would wear at any given opportunity, shame work don’t see it as appropriate corporate attire though.

that pencil skirt looks absolutely lovely on you =)

  4. The skirt looks fab Laura. I think the trick to wearing sequins during the day is to keep everything else simple, they look great teamed with chunky knits at this time of year.. Most importantly though you have to love it and wear it with confidence – and you should – this skirt looks lovely on you!
    Have a great Christmas x

  5. Loving the sequin skirt <3

I pretty much wear sequins any time of the day, I just keep my outfits simple and casual in the daytime and at night throw on a pair of heels and a jacket xoxo

  6. I love both skirts 🙂 I haven’t any sequined items of clothing but I’d really like a sequin top of some sort. Not sure if I’d be brave enough to wear it during the day though 😉

  7. That sequin skirt is absolutely gorgeous, you should totally bust it out for a shopping trip!

  8. Yay! I love the sequin skirt on you! You and Jen rock that pencil skirt. Love them with the Yull Chelsea boots too!

  9. I totally understand your sequin issue but just go for it! You look fab in it! And because they are black, it’s more understated! The way I wear them during the day usually on skirts – I have several skirts with sequins on them but they’re detailing all round the skirt- still I did get a lot of attention when I wore one to school on the Christmas fair day! However, I just laughed when people pointed it out!

  10. Your sequin skirt is fab! I hope you have a lovely Christmas:)

  11. The sequins look gorgeous, but I do understand how you feel (I feel the same way about most of my wardrobe). I would try and team it with something really casual, maybe a ligther coloured tee and accessories xxx

  12. I ADORE that sparkly skirt. It looks lovely on you too. Totally a daytime outfit as well as night, but then I live in London where nobody really cares if you are wearing a formal suit or a santa suit. Still love it though!

  13. You definitely need to get that skirt out and about! It’s lovely, just tone it down with simple other attire and you’ll be fine! Would be good to wear on Christmas day methinks!

  14. Everyone needs a sequin skirt in their lives, the more sparkles the better! x

That skirt looks ace and you’ve worn it beautifully. People will always stare but that’s not such a bad thing, it’s much better than being ignored. x

  18. I don’t own many clothes with sequins on them as I am not sure what I would wear them with. I hope you are enjoying the lead up to Christmas!

  19. I think at this time of year sequins are totally doable for day time, I have a lush little black sequin cropped cardie that I wear to death at Christmas!

  20. I have the same dilema where I live about what to wear if I don’t want to be stared at all day. But I have to say that when I first saw the pictures your sparkly skirt it did stand out, but not in an obvious way. I think it’s because you paired it with a simple T, which keeps it easy on the eyes! xx

  21. Ooh, you look very elegant and mature in your sequins. How festive! x

  22. i’ve never worn sequins during the day and feel pretty boring now..time to break the mould! the skirt is an amazing fit on you and I love your Chelsea boots, they def make it a more daytime look

  23. i actually personally think that the leopard skirt is more out there then the sequin skirt! i definitely think you’re over thinking. you must wear the sequin skirt out, you look absolutely lovely in it. xx

  24. Love that 1st skirt xx

  25. Thank you for the good writeup. It in fact was a amusement account it. Look advanced to far added agreeable from you! By the way, how could we communicate?

  26. I know what you mean about small towns- rural cumbria is not the place to wear sequins in the day! But… I reckon the black tee was spot on for day, and keep it simple with the shoes- either plain flats or a chunky boots or something? City centre shopping trips sounds like a good way to test it out though.

  27. I LOVE the sequin skirt, I think it looks fab the way you’re wearing it. Keep it simple on top so it’s all about the spangle.
