Enter Komodo (+ a discount for you)

As you have probably gathered by now, I LOVE Twitter. Not only have I kept in touch with and made some fabulous friends, I have also been introduced to brands I would never otherwise have heard of.

My latest discovery is Komodo

“Joe Komodo was an 80’s teenage backpacker who returned to London more lost than found. Joe began his business in Camden Market selling souvenirs of his Asian travels and in 1988 moved into producing his own fashion line, Komodo. The Komodo label soon evolved into an international fashion brand pioneering the development of ecologically produced and fairly traded clothing in a mainstream fashion market.

Komodo has been working with the very same family run factories in Nepal India, and Bali, which he stumbled upon during his teenage travels in the early 1980’s. Working closely with the factories, Komodo has been a key influence in the SA8000 certification of the factory that they produce in, in Kathmandu, the only factory in Nepal with the European industry certification…”

Some of my favourite pieces from the A/W10 collection are

(ray shirt and otis shorts)
(ming dress)(bamboo coat)

Stunning right? And not like anything I’ve seen on the highstreet! I would happily wear it all, especially the coat!

an outfit, a bag and a lot of pictures of a cake.

Happy Thursday guys! Almost the weekend…yes! What are your plans? Who’s going to be at LFW? And who (like me) is going to be utterly lazy?

Feeling a bit fragile today, having been sent home from work yesterday with horrible nausea and general feeling crap,
I do feel better today but not 100% so I’m indulging in a day of doing my favourite things.

Wearing: another old favourite

Loving: My new Nica bag, which was my treat to myself for passing Media law. I ordered from MyBag.com on Tuesday evening, and first thing this morning it was here!

I am not one of those people who can cope with little bags! This has so much space around for all my junk/really important stuff.

Baking: Chocolate sponge with malteasers inside and a chocolate icing drizzle. Just a basic sponge mix with cocoa and a couple of small bags of malteasers added in. It might look dense but it’s as light as a feather. Sadly I don’t get to taste it (yet) as it is for the doctors at work who have an inspection type deal this week + stress levels are high. They are chocaholics so I’m taking this in tomorrow to celebrate the end of the week.

Malteasers work really well in cake for adding texture. The cupcakes I made a couple of weeks ago were such a hit most of the staff now have the recipe and have been making their own!

More Burts Bees

So, I think we established in my last post about them that I love Burts Bees! My lips have never been in better condition, which is quite something given the variety of products I have tried.

I also gathered from that post that a lot of YOU are fans too, which is why I’m sharing this with you.

Burt’s Bees and Alex Monroe have collaborated to raise funds for the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) and produced this gorgeous Honey Bee Necklace. The necklace will be available online at alexmonroe.com from 1st March and is priced at £165, £30 of which will be donated from each sale to the BBKA.

I think Bees are fascinating little creatures and this is a very worthy cause supporting Bee Keepers in the ever more complicated industry.
Bees are a vital part of our food chain (a third of our food wouldn’t be available without them!) and lets not forget honey…and Burts Bees!

What do you think?

Will you be showing your support with this gorgeous necklace? It’s headed straight on to my wish list.

one, two, NEW

Firstly, thank you for the feedback on yesterdays posts, it was great to know what you guys think and I thought the comments on the selling gold post were fabulous!

Today it is back to outfits, which, because they are work outfits means shoddy lighting because it is still Winter out there despite the occasional glimpses of Spring!

Yesterday was the return of my Monsoon Fusion apple print dress. I was un-inspired and sick of dull colours. I adore the little apple button and it gave me a good chance to wear my new bracelets courtesy of the beautiful Becca.

Today’s outfit isn’t actually what I’ve ended up wearing…but, it is what I intended to wear until I realised it was going to be one of those “nothing fits or looks right or is what I want to wear” kind of days.

Photobucket

But I am wearing my new shoes! £20 from New Look. I ummed and aahheeddd about these for ages, then decided to go for it.
This is the worst possible photo of them EVER but I will be wearing them a lot so you’ll see them properly soon!

I seem to be on a shopping kick at the moment…not being able to spend much over the summer suddenly has it’s advantages! Maybe it’s time I bought a better camera, or hired a photographer 😉 Oh roll on better natural light.

What have you bought lately?

Have you Sold your Gold?

(photo from weheartit)

So, times are still tough and Post-Christmas a lot of us are looking for ways to free up some extra funds.
There are the traditional routes such as ebay, and come Spring there will be car boot sales a-plenty…but who has explored other options such as selling gold?

It’s not something I’ve done personally, and actually I have no gold to sell, but it does seem like quite a good way of raising some extra funds if you have un-worn or un-loved jewellery laying around.

I’ve seen a lot in the news in recent months about gold selling, both good and bad as well as a surge of shops now offering cash for gold which has got me interested in the experiences of people I can relate to…

SO,
Have you sold your gold through a jewellers, or through websites designed for the purpose?

If you have, how did you get on? What was your experience like, good or bad?

If not, would you consider it?

Just thought I’d put a “thinking” post out there. I’m trying to explore new options for the blog with some fairly regular features, so I’d love your input!
