A Little Bit of Luxury from Smiley

Everybody needs some feel good clothing in their life, and what better way to cheer yourself up than wear a giant smiley face? Admittedly a year or so ago this in an option I’d have overlooked, but since being introduced to Smiley back in the Summer I’ve known where to head every time I need a little pick-me-up.

Jumper c/o Smiley | Jeans: Bershka | Boots: I can’t remember, oops!

Honestly, how can one be miserable when wearing a jumper this bright and fun? Smiley have recently launched a range of cashmere and sent me this jumper to celebrate. Now, I’ll admit that this range doesn’t come cheap, but damn does it feel good! The perfect slouchy fit to hide the not-so-great body image days, an on trend animal print and the biggest smiley face I ever did see- this is feel good dressing at it’s best!

Paired with a simple pair of skinny jeans (I love how Bershka’s jeans fit me) and these studded platform boots this was the perfect outfit to remedy any Monday blues at the start of my week off.

Watch this space for more awesome goodness from Smiley, I can’t get enough of the brand right now and there are some cool things in the works…

What’s your take on feel good dressing?

Silver Wings and Amber Daisies

I’ve been a lucky girl lately and have managed to accumulate a couple of gorgeous new pieces to add to my jewellery collection. I love discovering new brands (at least new to me) and show them off on my blog.

Dress: Primark | Tee: New Look | Shoes: Sarenza | Necklace c/o Silverwings Jewllery | Ring c/o Henryka

Silverwings Jewellery is a brand I found on twitter. Run by a lovely lady named Elaine each piece is hand-crafted in Britain and beautifully presented. Inspired heavily by the Great British countryside there are a lot of woodland animals and feathered friends on offer. I was very kindly sent the Sitting Squirrel necklace from the “woodland fur & feathers” collection which I just love. I can’t resist a countryside critter and this is exactly the style of necklace I tend to wear on a daily basis. I failed to capture it properly in the outfit shots as the light wasn’t in our favour to really show it off, but this necklace hasn’t left my neck since it’s arrival. I shall be saving my pennies for more of Elaine’s work in the future as it’s all so stunning- I might have to get the matching bracelet next.
My ring from Henryka has made it’s way to “favourite ever ring” status and I’ve only had it a week! Amber is one of my favourite stones and it’s obvious from the name of my blog that I love daisies, so this is just the perfect combination. Henryka is a treasure trove of awesome pieces made from sterling silver and amber, all at really good prices too. This ring was £29 and came beautifully presented and it’s clearly of excellent quality. I’ve spied a number of cat pieces on the website which I will be adding to my ever expanding wish list!
This outfit was hastily thrown together for a lazy Sunday working from home. This dress was such a bargain at £5 and I thought the lace top worked well under it as otherwise it is a bit on the low cut side. It was good to get one last wear from these sandals before they go away for the winter, it’s just as well I have an obsession with ankle boots!
Where are you loving for jewellery right now? Have you made any exciting new discoveries?

Autumn Winter wishes from Joules

Now, Joules isn’t the first place that springs to mind when I’m browsing around for new clothes, but every now and then (more and more frequently it seems) someone tweets or blogs about them and I end up falling in love with at least ten items, if not more on the website. I was recently contacted by Joules and asked if I’d like to create an Autumn/Winter wish list, which was really no hard task given I’d been mentally compiling one for weeks.
The countryside loving girl in me has opted for a muted palette that would lend itself perfectly to a cosy weekend away in a cottage, going for long walks followed by warming up with hot chocolate and an open fire (how snug does that dressing gown look?). As Joules is on the pricier side I automatically look for pieces that I know will last for years ahead and I think that all of these will for sure. I also spied some rather lovely tunic dress or two that would be lovely for work and a Tweed coat that would smarten up any outfit.
I’m ever so tempted by the striped dress I’ve featured above, at £49.95 it seems pricey at first, but given that stripes never go out of style and every piece I’ve tried from Joules has been of the highest quality it’s a price I’d be pretty happy to pay (if I had the money there in the first place).

What do you think of my little selection? Why not leave a comment below with your favourite pieces?

TTYA x Long Tall Sally

Exciting news for fellow tall girls! Long Tall Sally have teamed up with TTYA (Taller Than Your Average) to launch a capsule collection of 18 hot pieces aimed at a young and stylish generation. The collection, shot by fashion photographer Alex Sainsbury and modelled by the gorgeous Jamie Gunns boasts statement on trend pieces from over-sized yeti coats to distressed denim.

I’m all kinds of in love with this collection and it’s exciting to see Long Tall Sally branch out in a new direction. I featured them on the blog over the Summer and have been a fan for years but this is something entirely different for them and it works. Jorduan Dunn has already been spotted wearing a striped jacket from the range. I’ve popped some of my favourite pieces below- the collection only launched yesterday but I predict a sell out!

It’s a tough call but I think if I had to pick a favourite piece it would be the stunning metallic maxi dress (£75) which just screams hollywood glamour. The ripped skinny jeans (£70) and white scuba biker jacket (£100) are also firm favourites.

What do you think of the collection? I wish I was a rich girl as I’d happily buy it all!

Style Challenge: Winter Pastels with Cabot Circus

I do love a good challenge, and when Cabot Circus asked me to pick out and style up my favourite trend for A/W 14 I was oh so up for it. I picked pastels as my trend (you can see SJ’s take on red here) and thought I’d have quite an easy task; oh was I wrong, pastels might be hot news for A/W but this hasn’t really filtered through to the high street yet and it was a bit of a mission to find an outfit as nothing I had seen online was in stock in the stores I visited! Still, never one to back down I resisted picking a new trend and eventually found an outfit I loved.

Dress: Topshop c/o Cabot Circus | Cardigan & Necklace: New Look c/o Cabot Circus | Backpack: Accessorize c/o Cabot Circus | Boots: Miista

I usually avoid Topshop as I don’t ever find things I like that I feel are worth the price tag. This dress caught my eye as I was racing around, just hanging innocently on the back wall. At £30 it was a really good price, it fits beautifully and is a lovely crepe fabric that will be warm enough to wear all winter with some thick tights and a cardigan. Pastel item number one? Check!
I didn’t want to over-do the pastels as together they can all look a bit sickly, this soft grey midi-length cardigan from New Look was only £19.99 and is super warm and snuggly. I’m a fiend for cardigans and have been after a longer length one for ages, I love how it looks against the dusky pink of the dress. I also grabbed this necklace in New Look as the colours work really well with the rest of the outfit and it’s great for dressing the outfit up a little. The backpack from Accessorize was an impulse purchase, I had been looking for footwear, but I’ve been after a bag like this for ages and again the soft grey works really well, and the gold zips match the necklace. I’m all for a spot of matching every now and again!

With my beautiful Miista boots on my feet I feel I did just about ok with this challenge. I went in to Cabot Circus with a vague idea of what I wanted and this wasn’t it…but it’s a very “me” outfit and I can guarantee I’ll be wearing it to death!

The whole challenge is in aid of Cabot Circus’ Fashion Fix which is happening this weekend. I’ve been to a couple of these before and they are always brilliant. Over the course of the two days there are several catwalk shows displaying all of the hottest trends for A/W. General attendance is free but you can apply for VIP seats too, right up until the 25th September (get your skates on, there are only 80!) If you manage to reserve your seat you’ll also be entered in to a prize draw to win a £50 Cabot Circus gift card (per show) so really…get going!

Cabot is probably my favourite place to shop in Bristol and this event is going to be brilliant, going from past experience. The atmosphere is always fantastic so if you’re in Bristol over the weekend then I strongly suggest you pop on down…

…See you there? I’ll be milling about on Saturday.
