World’s Biggest Coffee Morning with M&S and Macmillan

This year M&S and cancer charity Macmillan have joined forces to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. For those who don’t know this is Macmillan’s biggest annual fundraising event and the idea is for people all over the UK to host their own coffee morning and donations on the day are made to the charity. As someone who has experienced the effects of cancer in both a personal and professional capacity this is a cause I’ve always been able to get behind and I was over the moon when M&S sent out a box containing some of the limited edition goods they’ve created to celebrate this very special event, this year taking place on Friday 25th September.
From the M&S press release: M&S stores nationwide, including M&S Cribbs Causeway, will be hosting coffee mornings on Friday 25th September in aid of Macmillan’s flagship event and shoppers are invited to join in the fun and enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of cake in aid of the charity.

This is the sixth year that M&S has supported World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and during this time the retailer has raised over £4 million for Macmillan. From 1st September M&S customers have been able to enjoy a host of tasty treats on sale in M&S Foodhalls with 10 percent of each sale going to Macmillan. Products include a delicious Macmillan Victoria Sandwich, M&S’ famous Colin the Caterpillar Cake and a limited edition World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 25th Anniversary Biscuit Tin. All M&S Cafés will also be donating 5p from every cup of coffee and slice of cake sold during September to Macmillan.

An array of gorgeous limited edition home products, including a bone china mug, tea towels and an apron are also available in selected M&S homeware departments with 10 percent of each sale again going to Macmillan. M&S Foodhalls and Cafés are also selling two bespoke Coffee Morning badges designed by renowned British designer Sophie Conran, for a suggested donation of £2, each featuring a coffee morning recipe from Sophie herself.

The mug and tea towel are a lovely way to give to a good cause and a really pretty addition to your home. The chocolate fudge cake is a delicious treat, and how can one feel guilty about eating and enjoying cake when you’re doing it for a good cause?

Are you planning to get involved this year?

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

What can I say? I love a good festive knit and I couldn’t resist posting on on the blog despite it still being November. That and the fact I’m organising Christmas Jumper Day at work this year (in aid of Save the Children on the 12th December) and I’m trying to summon up some enthusiasm among my colleagues!

Jumper c/o Chiara | Skirt: New Look | Boots: Jonak via Sarenza

I couldn’t turn down the chance to own this Frozen inspired jumper from Chiara which have a brilliant selection this year. This one is so fun and cheerful, the downside been every time I wear it I start humming the frozen soundtrack, despite never having seen the film.

Sorry for the super small image sizes here, I’m not sure what’s going on with that- if you click on the images you can see them full sized. Mae wanted to get in on the action too, by stealing dad’s stuffed polar bear…she just doesn’t miss a trick!

Will you be taking part in Christmas Jumper Day this year? It’s in aid of a brilliant cause and is super simple to organise for your place of work or just amongst yourself and your friends. We’re actually doing it over two days at work due to the nature of people’s working days…someone find me another jumper, stat!

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer x M&S

Once again M&S have teamed up with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, asking people to “wear their support” and help raise some funds for the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
This is a partnership that’s been going on for over a decade and in that time M&S have raised over 19 million pounds for the charity.
This year M&S will be donating 30% of the profits from the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer to the charity, and with fun, Daisy printed swimwear AND clothing you can do good and be bang on trend.
If you hover over the images you’ll be able to get the details and prices. My eye is on the daisy print trousers and the sweet pink swimsuit, I can guarantee at least one of these will be mine in the next couple of months. Which piece is your favourite?

Apricot x Ovacome

I’m a bit late in the game in sharing this but March is Ovarian Cancer awareness month and to support and raise awareness for the cause highstreet brand Apricot have designed two new products, of which all profit will be donated to the charity Ovacome to help them inform, support and advice women affected by the disease.
Catching Ovarian cancer early is vital for improved survival rates. Each year 7,000 women in the UK will be diagnosed. Symptoms can go undetected for many months as they can be mistaken for other conditions so advice on what to look out for and when to see a doctor is crucial in treating the disease. The more women who know about the warning signs, the more women’s live’s will be saved. Simple.
The Teal Circular Crochet Lace Dress costs £35 and is a lovely, classic cut piece set to flatter all. To go with the dress there is also a Canvas Tote Bag which costs £2 and is perfect for carrying around everyday essentials whilst showing your support for the charity.
The campaign is supported by actress Terri Dwyer who has modelled the dress and bag. Her mother sadly passed away from Ovarian Cancer so this is obviously a cause close to her heart.
Will you be showing your support by making a purchase? I’m going to add the tote bag to my basket right now- sadly I can stretch to the dress at this point in time.
