grateful

My Birthday was never going to be an easy day to accept this year; to celebrate doesn’t feel quite right (although I will, in time) and neither did ignoring it completley. Thank you to my family and friends who have made me realise it’s ok to mark the occassion, that it’s ok to laugh as well as cry and who have respected my wishes around presents and cards…there is time for all that and none of it really matters. What matters is spending the day with the people closest to me.

Thank you to all of you, again, who have left words of support on here, on facebook and on twitter. I’ve said it before and I have said it again…the internet and social networking can be a truly wonderful thing and I’d like you all to know how much I appreciate each and every one of you.

  1. I hope you’re okay, I know how horribly hard it is, I’ve lost both of my Grandmas in the past few months. Chanukah/Christmas and my brother’s 21st were blighted by misfortune and it is horribly hard, but you do deserve to still have time for yourself.

Everyone here is always going to support you, it’s okay to feel bad xx

  2. Happy Birthday love!

  3. I’m not sure what has happened but I’m guessing it’s a loss. I truly hope you feel better soon and your positivity is inspiring. Beautiful words. Social media is quite the blessing sometimes.

I’m so sorry for your loss Laura, and also sorry I haven’t commented sooner. I lost my Granny nearly two years ago, just when I was graduating from uni. I must admit that it took a very long time to get over, a year easily, as I was so close to her. For ages I would find myself nearly crying in Tesco looking at items of food she used to buy as I often did her shopping. When everybody was celebrating finishing uni and wanting to party I just wanted to be left alone. I couldn’t stomach celebrations as it felt so wrong, so I completely understand how you’re feeling today. (Although I’m still going to wish you a Happy Birthday)

Do not feel bad about grieving. It’s natural and it will get easier over time. Eventually the feelings of loss will be replaced with good memories of her, remembering all her fantastic qualities. It just takes time.

Sorry for the long message. Just letting you know that I’m thinking of you and your family x
