walk on the wild side

Dress: River Island via Asos
Top: Holland
Boots: New Look
I am a little bit in love with this River Island dress, the second I saw it in the ASOS sale I knew I had to have it and for a mere Ā£11.50 I couldn’t be happier. One of the upsides to being tall is the ability to wear midi and maxi styles, it kind of makes up for most short dresses being indecent.
It’s the last day of January and Pay Day (capitals required) so I’m in a pretty chipper mood. The weekend is drawing ever closer too although I am working Saturday morning so it’s not quite so exciting. One way or another it’s been a really good week full of work accomplishments, exciting post and baking (and subsequently making the house smell of gingerbread), it’s so nice to be rid of those blues and when they do come back weeks like this serve as a reminder that nothing lasts forever.
How is your week turning out? Good I hope?! I never know how to finish off posts, hence the random small talk and questions.
I’ll leave one more for you before I dash off…
favourite style of dress? I might steal some inspiration.

  1. Yummy! The smell of gingerbread. I’m too lazy to bake that myself but now that you’ve mentioned it I’ll be looking for some the next time I’m near any baked goods.

It seems that Asos and River Island carry a lot of lovely styles of dress. As for my own favourite style of dress? I’m not sure of a name, but I love all of the following attributes (I know they won’t all fit in one dress): Empire waists, peplum, embroidery, tiered ruffles, ribbons and bows, puffy sleeves, ruching (sp?) peter pan collars, floral prints, satin, lace, velvet and chiffon, and feminine colours, umm I’m pretty sure it won’t fit in a single style, but it would be something very feminine.

  2. I have been looking forward to seeing this dress in an outfit post since I saw the sneek peek photo you took (I think it was on Instagram?) and I LOVE it on you. Was just about to say that you carry off midi length so well and you said it for me, too true missy too true. I am jealous of taller ladies when it comes to midi dresses as that is actually my favourite length. I love fitted midi dresses, thank the lord for ASOS Petite section which means I can wear midis and not look like I am being drowned by fabric or look frumpy.

Anyway, back to your outfit, the pattern on this really suits you, it goes with your hair colour (haha what a weird thing to say but it is true)

Glad you are feeling brighter, I am too šŸ™‚ So happy that we are both out of the January blues now, yey for feeling happier. And yey for baking, I might do some this weekend.

Sending you massive happy hugs, have a lovely Thursday gorgeous šŸ™‚

  3. This dress suits you so much! The length doesn’t shorten you at all – I find when I put on a longer length dress I feel my legs have been shortened. But your skinny pins still look as long as ever, even with this longer length!! What a bargain it was too. I love gingerbread – you should do a how-to because I have no idea how to make it šŸ™‚ the week is going ok so far – today I have to make a big decision so I’m dithering about that!! I also have an assignment to do for next week – I have never procrastinated so much!! I hope the rest of your week goes by as happily šŸ™‚ xx

  4. p.s. Favourite style of dress has to be a shift dress or a dress that falls just above/on the knee šŸ™‚ those seem to be the most flattering styles for me!! I imagine you could pull anything off though šŸ™‚ xx

  5. That dress is gorgeous on you! You are right no bad or good mood lasts forever xxx

  6. I like the dress, it looks good on you! Great bargain too!
I like wearing shorter dresses as I am quite tall so they make my legs look longer. However I wear them with leggings during the day. x

  7. Great blog and nice post šŸ˜‰ I will be here more often, I’m your new follower. Don’t forget to visit my blog too!

  11. Your layering game here is super cute! And those boots are hiiigh too, how’s your foot holding up?

I like kinda smocky, kinda trapeze-y dresses. Basically a bag with my arms and legs sticking out of the sides.

  12. Gingerbread <3
I like skater style dresses, although I’m more of a boring jeans and tee shirt kind of girl :). I do like that dress though, sucker for the leopard prints!

  13. Love your dress and I love how you’ve styled it šŸ™‚ You totally rock leopard print!
