where flowers grow

ASOS dress, Primark tights, Ellos boots. An outfit from Friday, I think.

The photo above sums up my Nan perfectly. So full of love for her family and a real sense of fun. The service yesterday was beautiful; immediate family over, short and to the point, exactly how she would have wanted it. We spent the rest of the day together, as an entire family, something that very rarely happens and when it did, Nanny was in her element. A group of us went over to the local seafront, making the most of the glorious sunshine that had broken through and did things that we did when we were much, much younger. In the evening  we all went out for a meal.

There is still a sense of the surreal around it, for me, I guess I’m still in that denial stage of grief; but from today normal routines must commence, I go back to work tomorrow (complete with 7:15am start) and I guess, in time things will start to make sense.
On the work front things are great, my hours have been increased and I have my own phlebotomy sessions to do.

It’ll be back to the normal blogging routine, too, give or take. Thank goodness for the comfort of routine.

  1. I love that dress on you. it would be skimming the floor for me.
Its a shame that most families don’t get together much anymore, it takes a wedding or a funeral to get everyone under one roof again.
I find that routine and work takes my mind off things a while.

  2. I’m so glad you have your family around you, that is one positive to come out of all of this!

I’m glad you all were together yesterday and had what sounds like a lovely celebration of your nan’s life.

I hope that the start back to work goes smoothly tomorrow. I’m going to have to google phlebotomy to find out what it is!

Thinking of you and your family.

Sounds like the perfect way to say goodbye to your nan.

Look after yourself in the next few weeks and months.

Kind of feels wrong to say but I love the colours in your outfit.

  15. I really commend you for dealing with your grief so publicly, it can be hard for people to express their sadness, be through embarrassment or not wanting to cause a fuss.
Do you have probably helped more people than you know.
Love the girly floral mini dress given a twist with the colour pop tights.
