laced

Primark skirt, Next jumper, Blink boots c/o Spartoo. Worn for a silent day in the office yesterday where the I several times forgot my lack of voice and went to answer the phones.

Today I’ve woken up with a full blown cold, and still no voice so it’s going to be a day under the duvet with tea and a book. I’m gutted to be missing work (this close to Christmas) and also the MyStreetChic blogger Christmas party later on tonight. At first I was too nervous to think about going, but then I bought a ticket and had my outfit all planned out…including my Dune glitter shoes.

I’m just hoping I’m fully recovered in time for the work Christmas party next week. Getting ill during party season is just cruel.

I hope no-one else is suffering from a festive flu

(What nails shall I opt for next week? I couldn’t resist a Rebel Nails haul…as well as an ebay purchase of China Glaze Lorelei’s Tiara)

clearly my mind has wandered

I don’t know what’s come over me, but having just checked out onepiece.com I’m starting to think one of these would make the perfect Christmas Day attire.

Warm, cosy…and no waist bands/belts to loosen after a third helping of Christmas Dinner.

Perhaps my senses have vanished with my voice (it’s still not back!)

Fancy one for yourself? Head down to their new shop in Boxpark, Shoreditch, or check out the website!

red nosed

We haven’t really embraced the festive spirit at work yet, we’re just too busy…and apart from the sea of cards and tins of biscuits bought in by patients, we have very little to show that Christmas is approaching. Yesterday I decided to make a slight effort and wear a vaguely seasonal jumper. I saw this little reindeer print in NewLook a few weeks ago (one of those sneaky lunch break purchases, actually) and hadn’t worn it yet. The combination of reindeer and fair isle made me fall in love, big time.
Worn with a NewLook skirt and Jeffrey Campbell boots c/o Sarenza.

Whether I make it in to work today is another matter entirely. I’ve woken up with a throat full of glass and NO VOICE. I’m waiting to hear back from my line manager as clearly, reception duties just won’t work…it’s hard enough to be heard down the phone at the best of times!

and then I sinned

In my world, leggings do not ever equal trousers; that is, until the cold weather comes and I realise I own no trousers that fit me, and it’s just too cold (and in the case of yesterday, hail-stoney) outside for tights.

TK Maxx Jumper, Mint Velvet leggings and ASOS boots.

Sometimes you just need to give up on morals; at least my bum was covered, right?

As redemption, I bring you a recipe…although depending on where you live, it might not be redemption as the key ingredient isn’t readily available in the UK.

This was a bit of an experiment really, as I was at a loss of what to do with a jar of this that a darling blog reader sent over.
In the end, I opted for the same principle as my nutella fudge brownie bites and kept it simple.

1. Heat oven to 180*c and line a tray with cake cases (I made 21 fairy cake sized, muffin liners would be less)

2. Empty 400g of spread in to a large mixing bowl, resisting temptation to eat the lot straight up because it smells so incredible.

3. Beat in two eggs and blend until you have a smooth paste.

4. Fold in 10tbsp self raising flour and mix until well combined. The mixture is slightly oily due to the spread, this is fine.

5. Dollop teaspoonfuls (or more if you wish) in to the cake cases and pop in the oven for approx 10 minutes; this is based on my super hot oven, a toothpick or knife inserted in the middle will tell you if they are cooked (it should be clean when removed)

6. Allow to cool. Slightly. Enjoy. Prepare to be taunted by the scent of these for hours as it lingers in the house…long after you’ve run out of biscuit bites (they have a slightly crunch, biscuit like exterior, and cake like middle)

Happy Mid-Week folks. Almost there!
Have you done any baking experiments lately?
Stance on leggings as trousers?

The best things come in BIG packages.

Every so often an e-mail comes through from DHL, informing me that another Aussie treat is en route…and each time I sigh a little because no matter how hard I try, I always miss the delivery.

This time I arranged for the parcel to go to my grandparent’s house (handy that they live so close to me) but being me, I totally forgot to inform them…

One very puzzled Nan on the phone later and I popped round to pick up the parcel; to be greeted by a very bemused BALD Grandad standing next to a giant inflatable Aussie shampoo bottle…

You can just about see my Nan’s walking frame in the background; it was as tall as that!

I love Aussie products, and love my role as an Angel; however this latest task has left me a little defeated from the start,
you see, we’re meant to be keeping a diary of how long the new, bigger sized shampoo and conditioners last, and how we do our hair after using them…

(my reindeer could do with some frizz miracle I fear)

Now, I’m not dirty, but I only wash my hair once a week as it really doesn’t need anything more than that. I laughed out loud when Aussie suggested the bottles should last until Christmas…Christmas 2012 maybe!

I am also hair hopeless and rarely, if ever do much more with my hair than blow dry it and tie it up.

But, we’ll see, with a few parties looming and the Christmas break, perhaps I’ll surprise myself and make the best of this challenge!
