party planning

Anyone following me on twitter will know just how much I am loving Matalan right now! With Christmas fast approaching (oh, hey there November) they’ve just started to showcase their party dresses, and I’m smitten! I popped along to my local store on Sunday and tried on the.dress. (although not in the colour I wanted, hence a non-purchase for now) and I saw some other real gems too, all at crazy good prices, meaning new shoes and accessories are totally justifiable.

1. Sequin Swing Dress has a touch of old-time glamour too it, the sequins and sheer give a slightly gothic feel and yet it remains modest, making it perfect for a works do.

2. Jade and Black Lace Butterfly Bow Dress this is just crazy gorgeous, classic and the jade and black go together perfectly. It looks even more special close up than it does on the website!

3. Layered Tiered One Shoulder Dress in my favourite shade of blue! The simplicity of this dress leaves lots of scope for accessories and the cut is lovely.

4. Sequin Shift Dress a.k.a. MY dress! I tried on the black and gold version of this (stunning but my heart is set on the blue). Unlike many a party dress this isn’t too short on my tall frame and the long sleeves stop it being too OTT. I’m planning on wearing this with some solid tights and some plain yet killer shoes…providing it doesn’t sell out before I get my mitts on it!

The best thing?
Not one of these dresses cost over £30! Bring on the invites!

Have you started party outfit planning? Where have you seen your dream dresses/s/outfit?

This is NOT a sponsored post, I’m just loving Matalan like mad!

flower power

Another Matalan dress (purchased some weeks ago and sort of forgotten about) worn with my Yull Chelsea boots that rarely leave my feet these days. Also pictured; early morning dance in the kitchen and the standard dodgy lighting that I work so well!

Not much else to say, really, other than HAPPY MID-WEEK…hang on in there, it’s almost over!

squirrel

I’m a fan of squirrels, I think they are adorable and amusing little creatures, so when I saw a squirrel print jumper in Matalan I became slightly obsessed. I came very close to buying it several times, and kicked myself each time I left it behind…

I wasn’t kicking myself last week when I was off sick though, and browsing the Matalan website where I saw the jumper reduced from £20 to £5…

I like to call that “shopping fate”

Do you have any happy little stories like that to share? This jumper makes me smile…it fixes my love of knitwear and of fluffy tailed mammals in one fell swoop!
Happy Monday (well, as Happy as a Monday can be) xxx
P.S. Congratulations to Please May I? Winner of my iherb giveaway!

bugged

It was only a matter of time before I came down with the first bug of the season. Hazard of working at a doctors surgery…though after a while you do build up an immunity so hopefully this isn’t the first of many!

Anyway,
what better way to have a lazy Saturday recovering than in a draped snuggly knit, especially when it is as awesome as this one that Matalan kindly sent me?
Currently loving all things tribal, this knit is just perfection, even if, in true Laura style, I haven’t quite mastered the art of looking “finished” and it’s hanging all wrong.

Happy weekend folks,
I hope your germ free and have fun things planned!
