Citizen

You know me, I love a good watch and so when I was contacted by Citizen about their new Drive collection and offered a watch of my choice I was delighted, not to mention excited!
I instantly fell for the BRT collection, with it’s bright and funky colours and a sports luxe feel I felt like this was right up my street- and I wasn’t wrong!
I teamed my watch with a very matchy matchy outfit. The skirt was one I saw in Primark a couple of months ago but refused to pay £12 for as it really isn’t the best quality. However when I saw it reduced to a fiver I snapped it up and it’ll last me this Summer at least. The tee is one of my favourites in terms of fit and quality and came from Uniqlo, who quite frankly can’t be beat when it comes to basics! The shoes are by Esprit and come via Sarenza.
I can’t wait to get a bit of sun on my skin and show this watch off to it’s full capacity. What I really love about Citizen is their Eco Drive technology which means you never need to worry about watch batteries, or the environment. The watch is powered by light, both natural and artificial which means it charges as you wear it, I think this is just a genius idea and an ethos I can fully get behind.
Citizen have some really stunning styles out in their latest collection, so if you’re in the market for a new watch then I highly recommend them as a place to consider. There are some rather beautiful metal styles I have my eye on, which could quite easily be on pa r with a certain Blogger’s favourite watch designer…
What do you think of the Eco Drive concept? How do you like how I styled the watch?

Exploring every angle with Logitech

Since Ben got his iPad mini around Christmas time he has been on the hunt for the perfect case. He’s a fussy bugger mind you and it took quite some searching to find something that he could make do with. We were recently sent a brand new case from Logitech which has instantly won him over…which means I no longer have to put up with the endless search!
The Hinge flexible case with any angle stand (£49.99) is a sleek looking case that can be used, as the description says, at any angle. It features a smooth gliding hinge that means you can position your iPad to suit what you’re doing; be it watching a youtube video, following a guitar tutorial or browsing blogs. We weren’t too sure how well this would work in practice, despite it sounding great in theory, but as our photos show, it really is super easy to pop in to a suitable position so you can get a real good look at the screen. We were a bit worried it wouldn’t be very durable, or the hinge would snap but like any Logitech product it’s made to the highest quality and seems very sturdy.
Ben has been away so we haven’t had the longest of times to play around with this yet but it is already proving a winner in our eyes for both looks and function. It might sound like a gimmick, but think back to how many times you’ve been trying to do something and not quite managed it due to the screen not staying where you want it too…Problem solved!
The Hinge case is available for iPad mini/mini with retina display, iPad and iPad air (costs vary) and comes in two colour ways. It’s been brilliant for us so far and I plan to test it further by borrowing Ben’s iPad for a yoga video or two…watch this space!
What do you think of this idea? How would you get best use from it?

Beating It

I know a lot of you have followed my journey through anorexia and recovery, so I hope you don’t mind a brief detour away from my usual blogging style whilst I share a little update and triumph.
I’ve been ill since I was 15 years old- that’s a long time and during those 11 and a half years I’ve been through numerous medical admissions, two admissions to an inpatient unit and had a few lucky escapes. Despite all that I was still finding it hard to truly click with recovery, up until a couple of years ago anyway, and even then it was still a road full of more downs that ups.
About a year ago now I made a promise to myself, that this time I would gain up to a healthy weight, I’d do it slowly whilst taking the time to fix the mental side of the troubles too and when I got there I wouldn’t freak out and I wouldn’t react, I’d celebrate and then work on rebuilding inner health and strength. I promised myself two rewards when I got there- an owl tattoo in memory of my Nan, and a Mulberry Bayswater bag.
Two weeks ago today I hit that milestone point, the magical weight restored BMI of 20 which I had resisted for so long. Not only that but I celebrated, I was happy and proud of myself and my mindset is so different from times I’ve been here before. It quite literally feels like a weight has been lifted, I’m not fighting it, I’m not plotting how to drop just a couple of pounds to feel safer…nope. I’m celebrating, announcing it to anyone who will listen and showing off my bag and my tattoo with pride.
A few people had written me off, both friends and professionals and I feel like this time I’ve proven them wrong. I don’t know what was different compared to other attempts at recovery; I can partially put it down to being in a loving relationship and having another, more powerful focus in my life. I’ve been forced to break down my routines and I’ve experienced so many things that I had previously missed out on. I also feel like I’m simply too old for this now, to be constantly waging battle against myself and counting every single calorie I put in my mouth or basing my self worth on a number.
It hasn’t been easy, and there are still things that need working on (my lack of social life due to anxiety being the main one). I don’t claim to be the perfect example of recovery, and I am certainly no expert but I do feel free, I’ve really done it this time and it’s onwards and upwards with the rest of my life. At times I never thought recovery was possible, but it is. It’s the hardest challenge I’ve ever undertaken and I couldn’t have done it without Ben, my family and my friends.
A HUGE great big thank you to all of you who have stuck by me, who have provided constant support and encouragement over these long, long years. Words cannot express how much I appreciate it. Now normal blogging, a fitness routine and getting on with having a real life can resume. Sorry for all the rambling and double sorry if this post barely makes sense!

Blessed Zion

I’m spoiling you guys, two awesome brands in one weekend! Following on from yesterday’s quirkiness comes another “not your usual” post featuring the brilliant Blessed Zion, an eco friendly brand which specialises in ‘Street to Chic’.
Debuting in 2010 with a collection using recycled and sustainable denim the brand has gone from strength to strength having appeared at numerous fashion weeks around the world, notably London and New York.
With an award winning head designer (recently winning a designer award at London Fashion Week), Blessed Zion has now been commissioned to dress lead actors for a Waterbabies production in May 2014 and their designs are featured in the 2014 Screen Nation awards.
Above are my favourite pieces from the Blessed Zion webshop and I think they are just gorgeous personally. The designer has a real eye for unique design; with everything from the casual denim jumpsuit (my favourite) through to the risque sheer batik dress. There is clearly a keen eye for detail and a real passion behind each piece…Now I’m more aware of the brand I can’t wait to see more!
There is a new website coming soon (I’ll keep you posted) but for now you can keep up with the latest Blessed Zion happenings via their social media channels: Facebook | Twitter
I know I’m not usually the kind of blogger who is so designer driven, but lately I really seem to have more time and appreciation for the more unique ones out there and plan to dedicate a lot more blog space to them. Let me know what you think!

Queendom of Oeuf

So, as you’ve probably realised by now, my blog features more on the highstreet rather than the high-end spectrum of the fashion industry. However, we all have dreams and from time to time you come across something that you simply have to share, even if it is well out of your budget. That was exactly how I felt when I discovered brand new brand Queendom of Oeuf who I just couldn’t resist doing a little blog post on as they are right up my street!
Freshly hatched in April 2014, Queendom of Oeuf is a London Based lifestyle brand specialising in silk blend scarves and 100% cotton jersey tees and vests.
Every piece is defined by the “Love of Oeuf” and the designer, known as “The Queen” weaves her personality in to each and every piece. The pieces all draw inspiration from philosophical and psychological roots and inject elements of fun and fantasty with their quirky prints.
A t-shirt or vest will set you back £95 and the scarves cost £155. I did say these weren’t a budget option but should I ever have a spare £100 to my name I’ll be investing in the “Oeuf Off” which I think will be a brilliant and versatile if somewhat luxurious addition to my wardrobe.
Take a little look and tell me which print you’d invest in if you were in position to do so; I really love this brand and can’t wait to see it grow bigger and better in years to come.
