Lolly’s Sweet Treats

Have I ever mentioned how much I love sweets? To be fair I probably haven’t dropped it in to conversation as my relationship with food has somewhat deteriorated lately but now that’s all changing and I’m pleased to say that sweet sugary goodness is firmly back on the menu! So it was quite timely really that Lolly’s Sweet Treats got in touch and offered to send me some samples of their wares. I’d have been foolish not to take up this chance, especially from a company that stocks retro favourites and packages them in seriously lovely glass jars!
Two jars were delivered to the door and packed full of some of my favourite confections. I have a real thing for liquorice so the heart shaped jar stuffed with giant liquorice comfits was pretty much heaven. Honestly if I could only eat one type of sweet for the rest of my life it would be liquorice, it probably comes from being spoilt when I was younger with all types of the black stuff by my Dutch relatives but yeah, I have a serious addiction.
The second item was possibly even more exciting. A giant bottle stuffed full of sweeties that remind me of going to the corner shop on the way home from school for a 10p mix up (showing my age here!). The bottle was literally rammed with sweets and chocolates and included some all time favourites like coconut mushrooms, icy cups, foam bananas and flying saucers- to name but a few!

Both jars came beautifully packaged and also well protected from the hands of the postal system and I’d love to receive one of these as a gift at any time! Products aren’t just limited to jars either so be sure to take a look at what else is on offer. Lolly’s Sweet Treats is supported by The Princes Trust and is certainly a shop to keep your eye (and sweet tooth) on with lots of exciting products soon to launch. I know for certain I’ll be placing several orders in the future…liqourice catherine wheels and some foam mushrooms are calling out to me as I type.

What’s your favourite retro sweet? Liquorice aside I don’t think I could narrow it down there are just so many I love (she says as the jar in front of her is rapidly going down)…

A Summer Accessory Wish List*

The sun has finally shown it’s face around these parts and I currently have far too much free time on my hands (since when did anyone complain about that, really?!) and have found myself whiling away the hours by browsing yet more of my favourite haunts for inspiration and items that I cannot afford. As such I’ve managed to put together yet another wish list, this time featuring some of my favourite summer time accessories- a girl can dream right?

Mules and gold pouch both from Daniel Footwear | Pink bag from accessorize | Bracelet by Dogeared at ASOS | Sunglasses by Miu Miu at Very Exclusive

Call me a blogger cliche if you will but I have loved these Miu Miu sunglasses since they first came out and despite being way out of my price range, the other reason I don’t own them is I’m not sure they’d suit me. I can admire from afar though right? I very nearly bought the pink handbag the other day with the remains of my birthday money and to be honest I still might as I just love how bright and beautiful it is and it also happens to be the perfect size for someone who carts about everything but the kitchen sink.

I’ll admit the shoes aren’t something I’d typically go for, not my usual style at all but there is something about these nude mules with their gold detailing that has drawn me in…a bit out of my budget but I might have to seek out an alternative or work harder at my attempts to save!

Has anything on this wish list caught your eye? What are you top accessories for Summer?

Simple Stripes

Along with the dungarees from Monday’s post I was also sent a dress by Wearall that I’ve practically lived in since it arrived. My wardrobe has lacked a simple striped jersey dress since the beginning of time so I was really excited to find one that not only did I like the look of online but that lived up to expectations in real life too.

Dress c/o Wearall (get it here) | Boots: Banana Republic

Honestly this is probably the most comfortable item of clothing that I currently own and for £20.00 you really can’t go wrong with this dress. It comes in a couple of other colour combinations which I am putting serious thought in to, perfect for chilling out in especially when the weather is so bloomin’ temperamental!

Given that the weather has been dodgy at best I paired the dress with my new ankle boots that I picked up in the Banana Republic sale on my birthday. Reduced from £129.99 to just £34.99 I couldn’t leave these in the store, I was planning to put them away for the autumn but just couldn’t bear to. Banana Republic isn’t a shop I’ve ever been overly familiar with but as I was lucky enough to win a gift card I had a good nosy around their store in Bath and was smitten with the quality and quantity of fantastic pieces they do. A bit out of my price range, but the sale was excellent so I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for further bargains!

For a more summery look the dress would look equally good with a pair of chunky heels like this pair from Jones Bootmaker. I really don’t need any more shoes (how often do I say this?) but I do feel my collection is lacking on the simple sandals front…

What do you think of these simple stripes? I love how the zipper detail on the front stops a classic edging in to the boring territory.

Alexi London

Another week and another new (to me) jewellery brand bought to my attention. Alexi London specialise in delicate and feminine pieces inspired by travel, art, nature and love. With a mix of trend led and classic designs it’s a brand I was keen to explore and get to know better and I was delighted to be allowed to pick out a piece to add to my ever-expanding jewellery collection.
I was instantly drawn to this evil eye necklace as I thought it was such a pretty and unique piece. I was even more excited when it arrived and I saw how prettily packaged it was and just how delicate the necklace itself is. It has an adjustable length chain, it sits beautifully and is clearly made to a very high standard. There’s a ring that matches the necklace which has been bumped up to the top of my current jewellery wish list.

The Alexi website is a real treat for the eyes with everything laid out in a clear and easy to navigate manner. There are pieces to suit all price points with sections for under £50, under £75 and under £100. There’s not really a lot else I can say, Alexi jewellery tick all of the right boxes for me when it comes to buying jewellery- either for myself or for a gift and I’m delighted to have been given this chance to get to know the brand.

Are there any jewellery brands you’ve discovered lately? What do you think of my necklace?

Dungarees Revisited

If there’s one item of clothing I never thought I’d become a big fan of then it’s dungarees. Up until a couple of years ago I thought I’d left them firmly in my childhood days but as they began to reappear on the catwalks and the high street I found myself oddly enchanted by them and have added a few pairs to my wardrobe, including these new additions that came to me via fashion e-tailer Wearall.

Dungarees c/o Wearall (get them here) | Holographic Converse: Schuh | White Tee: Primark

I haven’t owned any black denim for a very long time and it wasn’t until these arrived that I realised how much I had missed it. I really like these skinny fit dungarees, they have a slightly cropped length so they show off my new holographic pale pink Converse (a birthday present) to perfection and wearing this I felt a little less dressed down than I do in blue denim. A casual take on monochrome makes for my ultimate chill out outfit, and I have an awful lot of chilling out time on my hands at the moment.
I’ve had previous experience with Wearall and was impressed then and I’m even more impressed now. It took a bit of sifting to find things that fitted in with my personal style but bother the dungarees and another item I have sent are of excellent quality and the fits are perfect.
Are there any trends that you never thought you’d revisit? I’m just hoping shell suits don’t make a comeback as knowing me, I could be tempted…
