sell your stuff with music magpie

It’s January, we’re all skint (unless you’ve just had pay day, in which case you are probably still skint just slightly less so) and in need of funds fast.
If you are anything like me, you have a huge pile of stuff that you really should get round to selling but really can’t be doing with the hassle.

Well folks, today I bring you a new way to sell your stuff with music magpie. I’ve been aware of this site for quite some time as a way of getting rid of old CDs, but more recently they have updated themselves and you can now sell all manner of things such as electronics, technology and most importantly for us girls (and fashionable boys) CLOTHES.

I haven’t tried it yet but with my “stuff mountain” starting to wobble I will be soon. It looks super simple, you enter what you have and get a valuation price. If you accept that price (it won’t be mega loads but every little helps right?) music magpie offers a free send service, or courier for larger items meaning there are no fees/postage to contend with. Payment is by bank transfer, cheque, e-vouchers or charity donation and there is a handy app for both i Tunes and android users as well as one on facebook.

I’d be really interested in hearing your opinions on this. Have you used music magpie before, or something similar? Is it as simple as it seems?
If you haven’t used it, what are your thoughts on getting rid of spare stuff in this way? Easier than other well known options or does it sound too good to be true? Don’t hold back, the comments box is yours for the taking and I am genuinely interested.

I’ll hopefully get round to sorting my things soon, so I shall report back on my experience.

*Sponsored post but I really am planning to use music magpie so it was just good luck that this post happened*

Dress: Next
Tights: Gift from Char
I featured these shoes on one of my many Sarenza wish lists a few months ago and when their sale launched I decided I HAD to own them, despite at the time not knowing when on earth I’d get to wear them. As it happens the timing was perfect as shortly after they arrived my foot was well enough to start strutting around in heels and once it’s a bit stronger and I know exactly what is going on I’ll be living in these! I loved them paired with these flower pattern tights which were a gift from Char and my old faithful Next “work” dress.
A few people have asked about my foot lately; basically nobody is exactly sure what is going on but the consultants I saw think I have something called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (or CRPS) which is a neurological condition. I have to say the hospital were fairly useless but my wonderful GP has started me on a medication called pregabalin which has worked wonders at getting me mobile again by blocking the pain signals. I still have some pain which the medication hasn’t touched. I went for an ultrasound yesterday (yep, a Sunday) which showed my tendons are intact but there is some query about a smaller muscle/tendon injury that won’t show on anything but an MRI so that has been suggested as a next step. I’m almost past caring now I can walk, what will be will be and nothing is going to stop me now.

I think we should all take a moment to celebrate the last week in January; the most depressing month is almost over and although there have been some blue moments, on the whole 2013 has got off to a cracking start and I feel hopeful and excited for what the rest of the year holds.

How has the year started for you?
Tell me about your current favourite shoes…these Bertie beauts are mine of course!

Sarenza Sunday- Boutique Browsing

As a general rule I do try to keep my wish lists at least semi-obtainable but sometimes it’s nice to dream and that is exactly why this week my Sarenza Sunday is focused on their probably little known about boutique section stocking a gorgeous array of designer shoes that most of us can only dream of owning (but still covet regardless)

You’ll notice there isn’t a flat shoe in sight. I spent all of yesterday walking around in heeled boots and decided it worth celebrating. Of course the majority of my time will still be in flats but I am happily able to announce I can walk in something higher with no pain…no pain after five months, you have NO idea how good that feels!

First up are the Missoni Miranella boots, an object of beauty but strictly out of reach at £409 in the sale, eek! Seeming slightly more obtainable the Lina by Kenzo ankle boot costs £236.80 (sale price) and I really, really want this shoe for spring…gorgeous.
I’ve not heard of Michel Perry before, but whoever they are they create pretty shoes and I’m captivated by the perfect work shoe…meet Kavala– I will always have a soft spot for heeled brogues.
Last but by no means least; in fact this is a case of saving the best ’til last, meet my dream boot…Vahia by Vanessa Bruno costs an eye watering £414.60 (and that’s in the sale) but is everything I have ever wanted in a black ankle boot. I need to start remembering to play the lottery and not to browse the Sarenza boutique too often, it’s becoming dangerous!

Do you like to browse above your budget? I try not to think of it as depressing…it’s something to dream about and save for, I think buying something you have worked hard for, saved hard for and wished hard for is one of the most satisfying feelings ever.

daisy chain dreaming: prints perfect at Phase Eight

It’s been a fair few weeks since I last featured Phase Eight on the blog and I’ve returned with a mammoth wish list of all things printed. It may be a shop that six months ago I barely looked at but having upped their game (or increased their presence) recently I can’t help but covet- I am yet to decide if this is a good or bad thing, it’s not exactly budget friendly at between £80 and £90 for a dress but at the same time you are paying for quality and a dress/blouse/skirt that will never really date.

I’ve already featured the heart print dress before, should it ever go in to the sale and be available in my size I will take that as shopping karma and hastily purchase, for now it remains strictly wish list but I can sit and covet to my heart’s desire. Those of you who have Valentines plans would do well to purchase this (and send it on to me when you’re done!)

Recently I’ve found myself attracted to printed trousers too which is most odd as in general I don’t do trousers. Still, every girl has need for Paisley in her life right? And don’t get me started on the pale blue blouse…again, strictly not.me. and yet I can’t help but wish it was mine.

Has any of this caught your eye? I think Spring/Summer 2013 will be a season of prints and colour for me. With new found body confidence and happy go lucky approach to life I think it should show through what I wear; any excuse to shop right?

Jumper c/o Blue Inc
Cords: New Look
Boots from Sarenza
Bracelet c/o Rubys by Design
I’m kind of getting in to embracing more casual attire these days, it took me a while to come round to it but sometimes it’s called for and appreciated. I can’t even remember which day I wore this outfit, this week has all merged in to one long blur but it doesn’t matter (and it’s been a good week so I forgive it for being so indistinct)

How pretty is this bracelet? It was a gift to me from the lovely Jade, the girlfriend of someone I work with and I’m besotted with the colour scheme. Jade runs a jewellery making business called Rubys by Design and creates some super stunning pieces, I urge you to check it out. Now.

I can’t believe it is Friday, again. This time last week the world was one big ghost town after our deluge of snow and now the snow is melting (hurrah) and we’re at another weekend. It’s been a crazy week for me, so much progress in terms of walking and general progression, I feel like I’m on one big happiness high…so long January blues (and nearly so long January!)

How has your week been?
