Dress: New Look
Shoes: Rocket Dog via Sarenza
Although it was too cold (still) to wear these shoes out of the house I couldn’t put off sharing them on the blog any longer. They’ve been waiting patiently in their box since they arrived about six weeks ago in the hope that one day I wouldn’t risk frostbite….but yep, still waiting. It was pretty obvious as soon as these landed on Sarenza that these had to be mine- I’m not sure if I ever shared the Daisy story and how my blog got it’s name, but Daisy is a family nickname and all my Grandad will call me; the same went for my Nan so they’ll always have a special place in my heart.
I survived my crazy day yesterday, it was good actually and very satisfying even if I was exhausted by the time I finally made it home. I kept my energy up with a few Coconut flavour lindt ball chocolates which are essentially THE nicest thing ever and a new obsession.
Do you have any family nicknames?

The Christmas Day Dress

We may only ever have a small, family Christmas but I still like an excuse to dress up and this dress sent c/o Mary Jane Fashion fit the bill perfectly. I rolled with the Baroque pattern and added some M&S lace tights and my Bertie velvet boots (for all of two minutes before pain took over) and felt unusually happy and confident all day.

It was a fairly strange Christmas for us, the fact both my Brother and Nan weren’t present really made the closeness of our family all the more appreciated. I was spoilt with amazing gifts…more than I deserve, and I appreciate them, but for me the real present was spending the day with those I am closest too and for the first time in as long as I can remember feeling content and healthy and able to eat whatever I wanted.

I hope everyone else had a lovely Christmas too, however you spent it. And the same for today…are you braving the sales? For me today will be spent in front of the TV on my iPad (gift from parents, spoilt much?) nursing a cold (judging by the photos you’d think it’d be a hangover instead) and preparing for going back to work tomorrow.

I’m counting down the days until 2013, I have a feeling it’s going to be a good year.

owl about

Gotta love Mae getting in on the photo action once again! This isn’t really a recent outfit, gone are the days where I post what I wear on the day I wear it! This navy owl print dress by Influence at New Look was worn for Sunday’s family pub lunch (which was delicious by the way) along with black tights from Tesco and my favourite/most hated boots from Sarenza.
I do love a good family gathering, but now they bring a sense of sadness too. My Nan loved a get together and she would have been in her element on Sunday. I don’t think I was alone in secretly raising my glass to her.

This dress is probably one of my favourite buys this year, again with a link to my Nan who was besotted with owls; when we were searching for gifts for her we couldn’t find anything with an owl on, now you can’t look anywhere without seeing one. It’s not a bad thing, sometimes it catches you unaware but mostly it’s like a little reminder that she is always there, and always watching.

Well,
here we are on Friday again (Crunchie craving and all!)
What are your weekend plans?

silvery blues

The one thing I bought whilst up in Birmingham was a pair of Toms; ever since I saw my cousin wearing a pair a few months ago (hey Mina!) I started coveting them, and while browsing the Schuh website and finding the silver sparkly ones, my mind was set.
I’m torn between thinking they are one of the ugliest shoe styles around, to being one of the most awesome! What I do know is that my feet are in heaven, they are SO COMFORTABLE; and I really, really love the fact that for each pair you buy, Toms donate a pair to a child in need (see here for more on that). How do you feel about Toms?

Yesterday I wore them with a blue dress from Clothing at Tesco and Navy tights from Boots. I’m pretty sure my feet won’t be wearing anything else for a little while, despite my somewhat extensive shoe collection!

I’m really enjoying having a few days off work, it’s been a much needed chance to relax; yesterday I did a lot of therapeutic clearing out of things with my Mum (mindful that my Nan is most likely shaking her fist at me from heaven for the amount I threw away) in preparation for a fresh start and clean slate in getting myself sorted. I’ve been thrown a lifeline and I’m damn well going to take it and get my life on track once and for all (I just need to get my head around putting on a couple of pounds).
On the subject of getting healthy, I’d really encourage you to check out my cousin’s blog…she’s embarking on her own journey, and I would love it if some of you wonderful people who’ve shown me love and encouragement could share a little with her, too. We’re determined to make our Nan proud of us.

I finally got my hair back to red, too. Five months of faded ends and horrendous re-growth has finally come to an end! Next week I am planning adventures in dip-dye, but that is going to wait until after my friend’s wedding this weekend…

Well,
enjoy this much needed beautiful weather folks, I’m really looking forward to a sunny day shopping in Bath tomorrow! Don’t forget to check out the fab giveaway in the post below!

pandora’s box

My Birthday gift from Best.Friend. was a gift card for Pandora…we’d talked about getting a friendship bracelet for some time, and decided that if we were going to do it, we’d damn well do it properly (and might I just add, this girl is worth her weight in gold several times over). We’d initially decided to save up once I’d quit smoking (more on that some other time) but with the passing of my Nan we decided to jump the gun and get them sooner, with a charm in her memory (my grandparents long ago “adopted” her as their own).

And that is how we found ourselves, still grieving and intolerant of simple things like crowds of people at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway yesterday choosing our bracelets. We bypassed the traditional silver and opted for the leather bracelets; pink for me, purple for her (these were more budget friendly at £40 each and more us) along with the “Best Friends” scroll charm and the little silver owl, as for unknown reasons, my Nan was obsessed with those beautiful birds.
I’m glad to have something so special, to celebrate the friend who has stuck by me when many others would have walked away, and to commemorate my Nan, a woman who loved and was loved, and forever will be.

I dragged myself out of my jeans and jumper combo and in to a River Island dress, teal tights and Jeffrey Campbell boots; c/o Sarenza.

And of course, Mae had to sneak in to this post, just as she sneaks in anywhere. The pose exhibited here? Well, that either means she wants tummy rubs, or is about to launch an attack on your feet depending on her mood.

Happy Sunday,
how’s the long weekend going?
