A Guess Affair

So as you might have guessed (haa, sorry!) by now I’m a massive fan of Guess Jewellery. I’m head over heels for their AW13 collection “A Guess Affair”  with it’s modern twist on vintage styles.
The collection is an eclectic array of chunky charm styles, playing off the GUESS brand
heritage and iconic imagery.
Each piece evokes the thrilling feel of a special find from a favourite vintage boutique. A colourful spin on the classic cameo, featuring a printed silhouette from iconic GUESS imagery pays homage to the power of the Brand’s history and powerful identity. Bold, vintage gem colours and semi-bright, antiqued plating, infuse the collection with a beguiling sense of character.
Artful settings of resin stones, flashes of jet enamel, ornate caps on faceted glass beads, and an array of stylized logo details all merge to form a singular collection that is distinct and
unforgettable.
From dainty charm-laden silhouettes to edgy and oversized designs, this collection pairs flawlessly with an understated ensemble to effortlessly enhance any GUESS Girl’s wardrobe. The GUESS Girl is sure to look sexier than ever and show off her love of the GUESS brand.
You can see more of the collection and purchase it for yourself at the Guess Jewellery website, or check out your local House of Fraser
 (it’s exclusive!)
Do you have a jewellery brand you keep going back to? It was my Mum who got me hooked on Guess and as they seem to up their game with every collection I can’t see my affections waning any time soon.

jeans for genes

Jumper- Monki at ASOS
Jeans- Next
Doc Martens via Sarenza
So, Friday was Jeans for Genes day and my workplace registered to take part so it was on with the denims…after wearing smart clothes to work, or uniform for the last couple of years it was quite surreal to be surrounded by a sea of denim! I was delighted to be able to wear my bubblegum pink DMs having not worn them at all last winter due to a swollen, broken foot. I had forgotten how comfortable they are, and how much attention they attract, my patients in my clinic said they were a great distraction from the needle.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a very low key one with the boy having being struck down with a migraine on Friday evening. I’ve never really had one before and I hope to goodness I never get one again. Still, it was a good excuse to be totally lazy, eat ready meals and chocolate and curl up to watch a film on the sofa (after earth with Will Smith, pretty good!)
Onwards and onwards to another mad week. It’s flu jab season in my workplace which means the phones are five times as busy as usual…at least the time flies. I also have a couple of appointments and some nice family and friend time planned. Not bad at all.
What’s on your agenda this week?
I’m hoping to catch up with everyone’s blogs this week, sorry I have been so absent!

Sarenza Sunday- These Boots were made for Walking

I have a bit of an obsession with Boots, put me in a shoe shop and I always make a beeline for them no matter what the season. I think partly this is because I don’t drive, therefore walk everywhere and I find boots the most comfortable and practical shoe for doing so.
Luckily for me Sarenza have a pretty epic selection on their website to keep me drooling day after day. My current craving is these lace up beauts by Vivien Lee, called Axane and costing £160.70 these look like they would fulfil all my footwear needs. And I can of course justify them because they are brown. And 75% of my shoe collection is black.
Logic. Shopping logic. I excel at it.
Have you checked out Sarenza lately? You may, or may not thank me for pointing you in their direction.

Playing House- the art of the orchid

I may still live with my parents but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy choosing things for the house and looking at home ware. Another new feature for the blog is going to be interiors, alongside my ventures in beauty and (to come) the re-introduction of foodie posts. I’m kicking off my series with a little bit of an info-post about orchids,
one of my favourite plants to have around the house.
Orchids remind me of my family. My Nan loved them and so does my Mum so it kind of goes without saying that the love of them came to me, too.
A few weeks ago Art of Life got in touch with an e-mail about this beautiful bloom and offered me one to keep for myself. I jumped on the chance as I don’t have one of my own and when it turned up the other day (for the record, beautifully packaged and in excellent condition) it was instantly decanted in to a pink pot and given pride of place in the conservatory.
Art of Life are seeking to raise awareness of  the Orchid in the UK so I have a few little snippets of information to share with you
Orchids are known as the ‘Queen of the Plants’ and make for a stylish and elegant home accessory. There are more than 25,000 varieties and they come in a range of colours.
Contrary to popular belief, orchids are extremely easy to care for and are perfect for those who love having flowers in their home but struggle to look after them (this would be me!)

Caring for an Orchid really couldn’t be any simpler, they only need watering every 5-12 days which is perfect as I’m prone to forgetting until the boy asks “have you watered your plant lately?” (he’s been blessed with green fingers)
They love well lit areas- but not direct sunlight so thrive well in Britain I find!
When finding the perfect home for an Orchid remember not to place it close to the fruit bowl as apparently this can cause premature aging and when watering the plant remember only an egg cup sized amount is needed.
Finally, when buying an Orchid look for one not yet in bloom to enjoy the flowers for longer.
My household has great success with Orchids, I’m not sure whether this luck will extend to myself but time will tell.
In the mean time, what’s your favourite flower to have around the home?
