What’s your true fashion style?

As well as working my “day job” at the doctor’s surgery I have recently taken on another, really exciting role providing content for a new website called Riddle which is based on social sharing of fun and interesting things. I’m super excited to share my first fashion related content with you- and please do get in touch if you’re a blogger and would like to share it too; there are super exciting things ahead and I’d like as many of you to be a part of it as possible!

Heart on My Sleeve

How nice has the weather been lately? I can’t get enough of the sunny days, it makes everything feel a bit more tolerable even when life has been out of control busy. The outfit in this post is one I wore on one of the cooler days and involved a bit if thinking on my part on how to make a cropped jumper work in a way I was comfortable. In the end I think I did alright…

Dress c/o Lavish Alice | Crochet Jumper c/o BritFash | Shoes: New Look | Bag c/o LYDC

I have SO much love for this Lavish Alice dress, which is now only £18 in the sale (I’ve linked direct to it above). It’s perfect for a chilled evening out, but I think with this crochet cropped jumper from BritFash, £10 bargain sale sandals from New Look and my new quirky Heart Bag from the folks at LYDC you get a perfect outfit for a weekend day out in town shopping or a lazy cafe lunch too.
I’ve been looking at cropped jumpers for a while and I really wasn’t sure how to make them work for me. I’m generally not a fan of layering as it makes me feel like the Michelin Woman. I gave this a try as the second the jumper arrived this outfit presented itself in my head and because all the pieces are so lightweight you get a really sleek, and non bulky finish. Winner. I love the contrast of the bright red bag against all the monochrome, even though the bag is a bit bolder and more quirky than I’d usually go for. I seem to have going through an experimenting phase at the moment, trying things I thought I never would suit or would feel comfortable wearing and it’s working. I’m happier with my out of work wardrobe…which just leaves me the continuing problem of more formal wear!
How would you style a crochet jumper? Can we all appreciate just how awesome this bag is too? Second favourite against my Bayswater for sure!

My Sarenza Sale Picks

The only thing that beats shopping for shoes on Sarenza for me is shopping for shoes when they have a sale on. The Summer sale has just launched and trust me, it’s one not to be missed! Some styles I’ve been coveting since they launched just a few months ago now have a hefty discount and I am on the verge of blocking my paypal account and hiding my wallet so I don’t spend what little money I have entirely on shoes (but one or two pairs surely won’t hurt?!).
Right now, at the top of my vast wish list are the four pairs above. I’ve decided I can treat myself to just one of these pairs and now I have the hard task of narrowing it down! First up is the Polenta Feast style by Clarks which I have seen many a blogger fall in love with. I’ve come to accept I’m no good in heels at work and these are a chic alternative to my usual boots or brogues. Sticking with last week’s slip-on trend love I’m also toying with the idea of the Gayla by Eden shoe, which ticks off two trends in one with their holographic finish. I can see me living in these outside of work so they would be worth their still on the high side price tag. Also by Eden (such an under-rated brand) are these sandals that are a milder take on the ugly/pretty shoes around right now (which I do sort of love). I’m no good in white, I just can’t be trusted, but the idea of white sandals is really appealing right now even if I have no tan to show off. Last but not least are these pretty pastel wedges by Refresh which would go so well with my midi skirts and several of my dresses. I used to leave in wedges and it’s a shame I got rid of most of mine when I broke my foot… I need to rectify this error in my judgement and replace them and these could be the way forward.
Which pair would you pick, and what are you after from the Sarenza sale?

How to Survive the World Cup

After months of anticipation it’s finally here…the World Cup kicked off on Thursday and as of tonight I’m a football widow as Ben watches the first England match. I just can’t get excited about watching men chase round after a ball and I know that even when we get knocked out (oh me of so much faith!) there will be another team to follow and more matches where I’m left on my own pondering what to do.
I came across this rather genius idea for World Cup Bingo which I am so very tempted to join in with, I can see pretty much all of these scenarios happening to me and it well, a girl has to make the best of a bad situation!
Aside from having some fun with this handy bingo card I think the weeks of match after match action brings about the perfect chance to catch up with some girl friends where we can arrange our own fun- a trip to the cinema, drinks in the sunshine (Bristol is perfect for that with it’s lively harbour-side) and perhaps even an old school sleepover. The second I’ve finished writing this post I’m going to send out some e-mails and see who’s up for some girl only time…with no men to moan! I suppose we might let any non-football fan males in to the group, there is at least one I can think of! I just hope they don’t mind rose wine and a lot of giggling!
How do you plan to survive June and July? Will you be following England to a (doubtful) victory, or will you be joining me in a spot of Bingo and having some man free fun? I’m fairly certain I’ll get roped in to “watching” a game or two so I’ll be keeping the bingo card close and maybe we could report back with our results?
If all else fails I’ve compiled a handy list of ways to ruin the world cup for your partner– just as fun as any game of Bingo!

crazy for co-ords

If you follow my twitter you might have seen my vague ramblings about actually really rather liking the co-ord trend that’s knocking about at the moment. I’m yet to invest though, as most of the prints I’ve loved have involved a body-con skirt, or a cropped top, or both and those things just aren’t me at the best of times let alone when sporting something so bold. It seems though that I might have found the perfect trio of sets that will see me take the plunge when I’m ever a) able to narrow it down and b) actually be able to afford to shop again! Behold…
These sets are all from new to me shop, Wishbone who have a seriously covetable catalogue of pieces available. After much time spent browsing, and adding things to my virtual basket only to have to empty it again, I picked these three sets (or six individuals) as my co-ord shortlist.
Sadly for me, Wishbone does not run cheap, each piece I’ve picked is around the £50-£80 mark, so the cost of each set is double that, eek! Still, I’m trying to be more about quality over quantity and one day, when I’m not on a spending ban one day and raiding Primark the next I’ll save up some pennies and invest.
Which set would you choose? Have you taken on the co-ord trend? Link me to your outfits below!
